  • Infant Weekly Email - Friday 31st March

Fri 31 Mar 2023 CSG Infant School

    Dear Parents,

We have reached the end of another packed term! It has been a very busy week with Year 1's Village Fete, our Easter Service and today's egg rolling and egg hunt. It was a shame the weather was against us which meant the egg events today had to be held inside, however they were still much enjoyed by the children! A huge thank you to all the staff for their hard work towards these events; to you for supporting your children and of course to our wonderful PTA for all their ongoing efforts.

    Reception Stay and Play
This is starting after Easter on Thursday mornings. Please sign up for a slot in the Reception classes. Please note there is only 1 slot per child.

    Additional Needs Workshop
If you think that your child may have additional needs or is delayed in their development and you would like to speak to a professional for advice or guidance, please find information on the flyer attached.

Sessions are held in High Wycombe, Aylesbury, Chesham and Burnham.

    School Lunches
The lunch menus have been loaded onto our website and you are now able to order your child's lunches via ParentMail for the next term.  If you have any concerns regarding the allergens, please click here for detailed information from St Joseph's. For your convenience you can order up to 3 days in advance: for example you would need to have ordered on Friday for the following Monday, Saturday for Tuesday etc.

For the first day of term, you will need to have ordered by Friday 14th April.  Please be aware that orders MUST be made or changed through ParentMail and not the school office.

It has been lovely to welcome so many dads and other family members into school today to help make Mothers Day cards and to visit the PTA cafe and pop up gift shop. Thank you to the PTA for their support today and all of their hard work organising the gifts.

Netball match - the dirla played their first netball match against Seer Green school yesterday. This was a friendly game organised by the parent volunteers who help support Mr Ballard with the netball club. Excellent play by the two CSG teams, winning one match and losing one but winning on aggregate overall 7-6. They played an experienced year 6 team so should be super proud of themselves. Thank you to Mrs Farshchi-Heidari, Mrs Sowden and Mrs Broughton for their help with netball this year.

Miss Shaw - we are delighted to share the news that Miss Shaw and her partner recently welcomed baby Jessica into the world. Mum and baby are both doing well.

Building work in school - we now have new doors and windows in Ash and Acer classes and in the main hall. All of these rooms are back in full use again.

Sickness and Diarrhoea - a reminder that if your child has either of these symptoms they should not return to school until 48 hours after their last bout of sickness or diarrhoea. By following this 48 hour rule we hope to prevent the spread of any infections.

    Maths Videos
Following the meeting with the Parent Reps last week we are sharing some of the Maths resources available on our website. Maths, and the way it is taught, has changed significantly since we were at school and many of the methods and steps we use to help teach the children may be different to what we remember from our own education. On the school website there is a wealth of information about how we teach Maths and also some excellent videos that explain each step of how we teach addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. These can be found at:

    We hope these are useful.

The U11s football team lost their cup game against Butlers Court last Friday - losing 3-0. The teams were very evenly matched but the home side proved to be stronger on the day. Congratulations to the team for reaching this stage of the cup.

Message from Donna Westall, Chair of Governors - following the request for a nomination to the role of parent governor, Hemal Pandya, an Infant school parent, was the only candidate and so has been elected unopposed.  We are really pleased that he has joined the Governing Board and welcome him to the team.

Fri 10 Mar 2023 CSG Infant School

    Dear Parents,

Message from Donna Westall, Chair of Governors: Following the request for a nomination to the role of parent governor, Hemal Pandya, an Infant school parent, was the only candidate and so has been elected unopposed.  We are really pleased that he has joined the Governing Board and welcome him to the team.

Family Day - Friday 17th March
Thank you to those who have completed the Google form or returned the slip. Please sign in and collect a visitor sticker in the Memorial Hall before coming into school.

    Red Nose Day-Friday 17th March
We are again supporting the Comic Relief charity and children are invited to wear something red in return for a suggested £1 donation. This can be a costume with a red theme or just normal uniform with something red.

    Nursery Open Day
We are holding a Nursery Open Day on Tuesday 21st March with tours available during the day. Please contact the school office to book a tour. Please see the attached flyer for further information.

    Parking Concerns
We have been informed that school parents are parking on the double yellow lines in the roads around the school. As well as being illegal it is also very unsafe. We have informed Police and Parking enforcement who will be coming to monitor the situation.
We have also had complaints from the residents of Albion Road regarding the parking at drop off and pick up times. If you have to park close to school please be considerate of our neighbours when parking. Also be mindful of where you park so as not to block them in, ensure the pavement is accessible and allow for a fire engine or an ambulance to access the road.

    A few date changes:

Building work in school - After many years of petitioning the Local Authority to commit to making building improvements on the site we have been informed that two of the classrooms and the main hall will be having their windows replaced over the next two weeks. Whilst welcome, it will involve some of these spaces being unavailable as the work is completed. This particularly affects events that are scheduled to take place in the hall towards the end of the week meaning that gym club and street dance will be cancelled next week. We will also rearrange the date for parents of Oak class who were invited to next week’s achievement assembly.

Sports Leaders Clubs - these will be run by Year 6 for children in lower year groups  - children who have signed up will just need to bring trainers in on the day their club is running. Clubs will be from 12:20 until 12:45

    PTA News
Help needed - we are looking for a parent to look after the Supermarket Voucher Scheme. The scheme makes approximately £1000 a year for each school which could be hugely expanded if we could sign up new parents.
The role takes about 2 hours a month, although varies slightly if one month is particularly simple or tricky. If you are interested please contact us.

    Anti Social Behaviour
Please be considerate of our neighbours when dropping your children off and collecting them.
We have had complaints from the Guide Hut and Garden Room committees regarding children sticking twigs in the locks and litter being left outside.
If you have to drive up School Lane please do not park in the entrance to Rectory Gardens or across 'Crossing Corner'
