  • Weekly Email - Friday 23rd February

Fri 23 Feb 2024 CSG Infant School

    Dear Parents/Carers,

It has been lovely to welcome the children back this week.

    Miss Foxe
Huge congratulations to Miss Foxe who is getting married tomorrow! We held a special assembly and the Year 1 children and staff had their own celebration. Miss Foxe will keep her surname but will now be called 'Mrs Foxe'.

    Arts Week
The children have thoroughly enjoyed Arts Week where they created clay models and other pieces of art based on Disney films to celebrate 100 years of Disney. We were also treated to a performance from the very talented Mrs Mossop who played a variety of Disney film tunes on her violin and trombone. Thank you very much to Mrs Mossop and also to Mrs Watt who organised the activities this week.

    Nursery Open Day
Nursery are holding an Open Day on Tuesday 12th March, if you or anyone you know is interested in a tour please contact the school office.

Please sign in and take a visitor sticker over in the Memorial Hall before coming in to school. There will be no Friday reading. Visitors are welcome at any time between 9.00 a.m and 11.00 a.m. and are not expected to stay for the whole 2 hours!

    Comic Relief Day-Friday 15th March
We are again supporting the Comic Relief charity and children are invited to wear something red in return for a suggested £1 donation. This can be a costume with a red theme or just normal uniform with something red.

Please see the link below to donate as this year we are not accepting cash donations.

    School Shoes
Please ensure children are wearing black school shoes with their school uniform. Trainers and boots are not acceptable. Please see here for our uniform policy.

    Governor Vacancy
One of our school governors, Jessica Svensson, has stepped down from the governing board.  We thank her for her contribution to the school and are now looking for someone to replace her.  This is not an elected position but is open to any parent or other member of the community to apply. The vacancy will be filled following a meeting with a small group of governors who will want to find out more about you and what you can offer the school. The main requirements are an interest in education, a willingness to learn, question and challenge, and a motivation to help make CSG Village School as excellent as it can possibly be.  You also need to be able to commit 2-4 hours a week during term time, ideally some of which will be during the school day.  In return, you get to learn a lot about how the school operates, be involved in important decisions affecting the children and staff and be part of an enthusiastic and committed team. If you are interested, please contact me via either school office or via the school website https://www.csgvillageschool.org/feedback-form-1/ to discuss or to apply.

Zebra crossings raised tables - public consultation. Please see the information below from the Chalfont St Giles Parish Council - You may be aware that Chalfont St Giles Parish Council proposed a number of traffic calming measures to Buckinghamshire Council through the HS2 Road Safety Fund. The only suggestion that was supported by Bucks Council was to raise the tables on the zebra crossings on the High Street and on Deanway. There is now a public consultation running until 18 February to explain exactly what is proposed and to ask the public to complete a short survey.

Buckinghamshore Council Energy Doctor service - If you want to improve the energy efficiency of your home you can request a visit from a domestic resource efficiency officer (called an 'Energy Doctor') if you meet their criteria. Energy Doctors can advise on ways that eligible households can reduce energy consumption and costs and put in place suitable low-cost easy retrofit resource efficiency (LCERRE) measures

    LCERRE measures include:
    • draught proofing for windows, doors, letterboxes and chimneys
    • hot water cylinder insulation jackets
    • reflective radiator panels
    • secondary glazing film
    • portable solar generators
    • electricity consumption monitors
    • thermometer cards
    • LED lights
    • Heated throws

Eligibility - To qualify for a visit to their home, families must meet all of the following criteria:
    • they rent the property through a private rental agreement, or own and live in the property
    • their household has an income of £30,000 or less (before tax), is in receipt of means tested benefits such as Universal Credit and Council Tax Support, or a member of the household is disabled
    • the domestic property they live in has an energy performance certificate (EPC) rating of D, E, F or G, or does not legally require an EPC
    • We will prioritise visits for those who meet these eligibility criteria and live in the Opportunity Bucks areas.

How to make a referral - Please contact Better Housing Better Health in the first instance who can assess eligibility for an Energy Doctor visit and other services. Better Housing Better Health Tel: 0800 107 0044 or Website: Home - Better Housing Better Health (bhbh.org.uk)

Book donations - Many thanks to all the families for the generous book donations we have received over the last two weeks. The books have been of an excellent quality! We are still accepting donations of good quality, age appropriate, second hand books, these can be given to the office.

  • Infant - Weekly Email - Friday 2nd February

Fri 02 Feb 2024 CSG Infant School

    Dear Parents/Carers,

    Mrs Moore
Sadly, today is Mrs Moore's last day with us! Mrs Moore has worked in Year 1 and 2 over the last two academic years, impacting and making a difference with a number of children. We will miss her greatly as she moves to a new role at Chesham Grammar School and I am sure you will want to join us in wishing her the best of luck for the future and thank her for all of her hard work during her time at the school.

    Mathseeds
Well done to all the children who have logged onto Mathseeds this week. The class who spent the most minutes on Mathseeds is Ruby class so a huge well done to all of you! The children who have spent the most time using it from each class this week are:

    Emerald - Oliver and Florence
    Ruby - Kairon and Henry
    Amethyst - Emily and Immy
    Diamond - Bea and Louie

    Found Lanyard
A lanyard with the name Rebecca on it was found in the staff car park. If it is yours please come to the school office to collect it, informing us of the additional name on the lanyard.

    PTA Updates
    • We held our first PTA meeting of the term last week. Event planning is underway, including for the Strawberry Fayre. Help is always welcome so do let the PTA know if you can help in anyway.
    • Please see the attachment to this email on how we are distributing PTA funds for this academic year. If you have any ideas for how you would like PTA funds to be spent, the form for you to register your ideas is on the PTA page (at the bottom) on the school website.
    • Mother's Day gift event and Breakfast Cafe - in conjunction with the Family Day at the school the PTA will have a breakfast cafe in the Memorial Hall and running a gift shop for children to choose gifts for anyone special they want to celebrate this Mother's Day.
    • We are still collecting unwanted, unopened gifts and good quality toys for our future events. Clear out before half term - bring to wet weather shelter next Friday at drop-off and pick up.
    • Do you have any connections to businesses or companies who might like to offer sponsorship or prizes for our Strawberry Fayre? We give full credit and advertising in return. Speak to someone on the PTA or email csginfpta.treasurer@gmail.com

First drink and nibbles are included in the £35 ticket, plus all painting supplies and expert tuition from the team at Brush Party.

You don’t have to have any artistic talent at all (we promise!) just follow the step by step guidance and slap a load of paint on the canvas and somehow a masterpiece will emerge. We guarantee you will surprise yourself!

We need to confirm whether we’re going ahead this term or moving the event, so please buy tickets ASAP this week. Go to the events page on Classlist to buy your tickets.

The Energy Doctor will prioritise visits for those who meet these eligibility criteria and live in the Opportunity Bucks areas.
