  • Junior - Weekly email - Friday 23rd September

Fri 23 Sep 2022 CSG Junior School
    Dear Parents / Carers

It has been a busy week in school with Year 4 taking part in a Football festival at The Misbourne School and Bonsai starting swimming lessons. All of our music lessons and clubs have started this week as well.

Water bottles - all children should be bringing in a named water bottle for class AND another water bottle to go with their packed lunch

Reporting absences and pickup information - thank you for sending these in. We would ask that you include class information for your child as this speeds up the process of passing on messages to the correct teacher.

    • Year 3 - parent information presentation is here
    • Year 4 - parent information presentation is here
    • Year 5 - parent information presentation is here

Parking - we have had a complaint about the parking on Parsonage Road.  Please avoid driving up Parsonage Road and parking on this road for dropping off and picking up from school. Parked cars are forcing children to walk in the road and making it impossible for residents and parents to travel up and down the road without increasing the danger to the children at the start and end of the school day. Thank you to those parking at the playing fields and considerately around the village.

Macmillan Coffee Morning - we would like to invite family and friends to join us for a Macmillan Coffee morning to be held in the Junior School dining hall from 9am to 9:30am. A group of Year 6 children are helping to organise this charity event. You can also donate directly to Macmillan via our supporter page https://thyg.uk/BUS006658071

Food tasting with Chef Paul - we hope that the presentation about school meals was helpful. A copy of Paul's presentation is available here

Harvest Festival - there will be a Harvest Festival Service in school for the Junior children on 29th September (please note that this is for children only). We will be collecting food gifts to be shared between ‘All Together Community’ and the Chesham Food Bank. The items that they are requesting most for Harvest service collections are: UHT Milk, Cereal, Instant Coffee, Long life juice, Sponge puddings, Tinned custard, Soup and Sardines, Cooking Oil (1L), Personal toiletries and Nappies. Tinned or dried goods only please. If you are able to make any donations please can they be sent into school on Wednesday 28th September. There will be a collection box in the main entrance or children can give items to their class teacher.

Fri 02 Sep 2022 CSG Junior School
    Dear Parents / Carers

We hope that everyone has had a lovely summer break and are ready for the new term starting next Tuesday 6th September.

School meals for the Autumn term - The new menu is on our website and the meal options are also on ParentMail.  Details of children's food allergies have been added to ParentMail. Please inform the School Office of any food allergies that we may need to be aware of, or any changes that may occur over the year.

Lunch boxes - A reminder that we do not allow sweets, fizzy drinks or chocolate bars in our lunchboxes. For advice on how to provide a healthy lunch for your child please see here.

We have a number of children attending this school who have a severe allergy to nuts & sesame seeds - including both peanuts and tree-growing nuts.  This allergy is not just triggered through ingestion but can also be via touch and inhalation. Under no circumstances are any items containing nuts or nut products to be brought onto site, either during the school day or before and after school.  This includes birthday treats that get handed out to the children.  Such products also include peanut butter and Nutella/hazelnut chocolate spread and some cereal bars.  Your cooperation on this matter is very much appreciated.

ParentMail - Parents of new starters should have received a login link for ParentMail. If you already use ParentMail and get a message to say the link has expired, it may be that you need to log into your existing ParentMail account and just accept the additional child. Children will be moved into their correct class groups once term has begun. Should you have any queries that you cannot resolve via the Parentmail online help system, please email the office and we will aim to resolve these..We are still waiting for allergen information from St Josephs kitchen for weeks 2 to 5

Chalfont St Giles Show is back! Saturday 3rd September in Stone Meadow after a two year break for obvious reasons. Make sure you buy your tickets in advance online or at various shops in the village (details on the website) as it’s cheaper than on the day. Under 18s go free this year as long as they’re accompanied by an adult. Great entertainment in the main arena, local acts in the community arena, stalls, and a good variety of food and drink, as well as the Competitions Marquee, Honey Show and Wheelhouse Vets’ Dog Show.
