     Dear Parents and Carers,

     

    Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!  We've reached the end of the term and had a great time working with your children and each other. Thank you so much for the Christmas gifts and surprises you have given to us - they really are appreciated! 

     
    Christmas Parties
    The children really enjoyed their Christmas parties and it was so lovely to see them having such a wonderful time and getting into the festive spirit.  They even got a visit from Father Christmas and it was lovely to see their faces light up!
     
    Christmas Church Service
    It was wonderful to see so many of you at the Church Service. All the children performed magnificently and made their teachers very proud of them. It was a lovely way to conclude the term.

     

    School Lunches

    The lunch menus have been loaded onto our website and you are now able to order your child's lunches via ParentMail for the next term.  If you have any concerns regarding the allergens, please click here for detailed information from St Joseph's. 
    For your convenience you can order up to 3 days in advance: for example you would need to have ordered on Friday for the following Monday, Saturday for Tuesday etc.  For the first day of term, you will need to have ordered by Monday 2nd Jan.  Please be aware that orders MUST be made or changed through ParentMail and not the school office.

    Christmas Productions
    It has been a very busy week with all of our Christmas shows. The children were brilliant and we are so proud of each and every one of them! Thank you everybody who helped to make these events so special. Thank you to our wonderful PTA for selling coffee and mince pies too. If you have taken any pictures or videos of the productions please can we remind you not to post them on social media sites. 
     
    Playground markings
    Many thanks for supporting us with the alternative drop off arrangements, we think you will agree they look amazing! The children have been so excited to try the markings out and we can't wait to make full use of them once the ice has thawed on the far side of the playground.

    Thank you to all of our musicians for supporting our carol services on Tuesday this week. Thank you also to Rev Dan and Rev Jenny for leading the services.
     
    A huge thank you to all of the volunteers who came in to help with the PTA  pop up christmas shop today. Thank you so much for all of the gift wrapping that you have done. It was very much appreciated.
     
    Spring Term menus - details of the menus for next term are available on the website here. Don't forget to book meals on ParentMail for next term. There have only been a few minor changes to the menus for next term.
     
    Spring Term clubs - details of clubs have been sent out to parents today. Please sign up again for the new term's school run clubs as we start a new register each term. More details here
     
    Year 5 assembly - please note that the date of the Year 5 assembly has moved and it will now be held on Tuesday 24th January still starting at 9am. The assembly will last about half an hour.
     
    Lost Property - there is a lot of lost property in the box in the dining hall. If you are missing any items please feel free to pop in and look in the box. Any items left at the end of the term will be disposed of - either recycled or sent to charity as appropriate. Please remember to label any items that children are bringing into school such as water bottles and coats. Some of the lost property is out in the dining hall after school today if you are missing any items.
     
    Christmas Jumper day total - we wanted to let you know that the Junior School raised £147.18 for Save the Children this year. Thank you

    Plea for tissues - any donations of full boxes of tissues will be gratefully received.

    Year 1 Milestones Museum Trip
    The children have had a fantastic day at Milestones Museum learning all about toys from the past and comparing them with the toys of today. Thank you to all the parents who helped with the trip.  
     
    Christmas Jumper Day
    Everyone looked very festive in their Christmas jumpers today. Thank you for your donations, we have raised over £120 for Save the Children.
     
    Christmas Productions
    Tickets for KS1 productions have been sent home. Seats have not been allocated however Year 2 will sit at the front and Year 1 nearer the back.
     
    Tickets are not being issued for Reception's productions. Everyone who has requested tickets have been allocated their choices.
     
    Christmas Tree Trail
    We have a tree in the trail at the bottom of School Lane which has been decorated by the children with eco decorations made at Forest School. Please admire it as you walk up the hill and make sure you vote for us in the competition!

    Holiday Course
    Please see below details of a course run by Role Models who work in the mental health space for children and run life skills courses all over the world.  Role Models will be running their award-winning Resilience Courses for children from 21st - 23rd December at Alfriston School, Beaconsfield.

    SSA Vacancies - we are currently looking for a Special Support Assistant to work at the Infant School. Please contact the office if you are interested in this role
     
    Absences and meal cancellations - if your child is ill and you would like their school meal order to be cancelled please can you let the office know by email by 9:30am. Thank you
     
    Fruit Tree Planting - thank you to all the Eco Warriors who worked really hard to prepare the ground for fruit tree planting on Monday. It got rather stony!  We will finish the planting when the ground is less frozen.

    Yamaha Class Band at Amersham Music Centre - there are 30 spaces available for children in Year 5+ to join these sessions which will start on Saturday 15th January, at Amersham Music Centre (HP7 9HH) at 10am. The cost is £75 per term and includes hire of the instrument Children will be able to choose their top 3 from Flute, Clarinet, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone Horn and Euphonium; and will be allocated 1 of their instrument choices in the first session.     Bucks Council Holiday Courses for children - the Role Models company will be running some Resilience Courses for children from 21st - 23rd December at Alfriston School, Beaconsfield.  All children from our school are welcome to participate and places are free for children who receive free school meals.     We hope that Year 4 all enjoyed the Roman Day activities on Wednesday. Thank you to the Year 4 staff for organising the workshop activities during the day.

    Year 5 Mexican cooking day will take place on Monday 5th December. Year 5 children are welcome to dress in the colours of the Mexican flag (green, white, red) for the day. 
     
    Year 5 PE day is switching to Wednesdays from next week - from Wednesday 7th December
     
    Year 6 PE day is switching to Fridays from next week - from Friday 9th December 
     
    The Eco Warriors will need to bring in wellies and suitable outdoor clothes for their meeting with Mrs Lloyd-Evans in the afternoon on Monday 5th December
     
    Christmas Post Box - the Christmas post box is out by the school office. This is for children to use to send cards to their friends in school. Please can the name and class of recipients be written on the envelopes. Thank you

    Year 2 Great Fire of London Workshop
    The children had lots of fun at the workshop today as well as consolidating all of their learning about the Great Fire this term. Thank you for all your donations to allow this to take place.
     
    Year 1 trip to Milestones Museum - Friday 9th December
    Please be in school for 8.30 a.m. as the coach is leaving promptly at 8.45 am. Year 1 should be back by the end of the school day, if there are any delays we will email you.  Can we remind you to not order a hot school meal for that day.
     
    Christmas Postbox
    The Christmas Postbox is now in the school reception area and the children can write cards to their friends and post them to be delivered. Please ensure the recipient's full name and class are on the envelope.
