  • Infant - Weekly Email - Friday 24th October

Fri 24 Oct 2025 Infant School
    Dear Parents/Carers,

We have reached the end of our first half term and it is lovely to see all the children so settled and happy in their learning. We would like to wish everyone a great week off!

    Friday Reading
Reception parents are invited to read with their child/ren on a Friday afternoon between 15.05 and 15.15 after half term.
Year 1 parents are invited to read with their child/ren on a Friday morning between 08.45 and 08.55 after half term.
Year 2 will continue as they have been.

    Weekly Attendance
Each week we will let you know the weekly attendance for the whole school. We are aiming for an average of 96% this year. This week, attendance was 95.2% with an academic year-to-date of 93.2%.  We are aware there has been a lot of sickness circulating but we are hopeful we will see an upturn in attendance in the next half term.  Attendance will continue to be monitored going forward and any cause for concern will be addressed.

Lateness also continues to be an issue for some pupils.  Please ensure your child arrives in time and ready for school before the bell rings at 8.55am. Lateness can cause disruption in the class and may mean that your child is missing out on vital learning.

Meal orders - please remember to book meals by Sunday 26th October for the week back after half term. Many thanks

  • Book Fair visit to Junior School - w/c 10th November

Wed 22 Oct 2025 Junior School

    Dear Parents/ Carers

We are excited to once again have the Travelling Books book fair coming to our school during the week starting Monday 10th November. This is always a great opportunity for the children to browse and buy new books from a variety of excellent authors. A list of some of the books available can be found here: https://bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/travelling-books/parents

Each year group will have opportunities to visit the fair during the week and to purchase books.

We will be accepting cash payments for books. We ask that if you choose to do this, that all money is in a sealed envelope and that your child gives this to their class teacher for safekeeping before the fair.

It is also possible to pre-order vouchers to spend at the fair. Instructions on how to do this can be found here: https://bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/travelling-books/parents#vouchers

Please note that we are not using any card payment systems but online payments can be made nearer the time of the fair using this link and searching for our school -  https://bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/travelling-books/pay. Once your child has chosen a book you can pay in the amount and this can be used for your child to collect the book from the book fair.

When purchases are made from the fair, the school also receives credit, which we can in turn spend on more books for your children! So please do support the book fair if you are able to do so.

The children will have two opportunities to visit the book fair which will be on different days of the week. Class teachers will remind children of the days they are visiting and will be encouraging children to browse before they buy.

We appreciate that it may not be possible to spare money to spend at the book fair. Class teachers will encourage children to write 'wish lists' to take home for future occasions e.g Christmas / Birthdays. We will also encourage each class to suggest their favourite book from the fair and we will see if we can purchase copies for our school library.

Furthermore, we also have trips to the village library for every year group this term, where we will encourage children to look for books they have seen at the fair.

We are hopeful for another fantastic book fair, thank you in advance for your support.

    Kind Regards

    Mrs Mannick

    Dear Parents / Carers

Well done to the U11s football team who won a very close game on penalties this week.

We had a lovely visitor come into school this week. Mr Peter George is the son of the first ever headteacher at the Junior School. His father, Mr David George, oversaw the building of our school in 1966/67 and Mr Peter George himself attended the Junior School for several years. Mr David George commissioned a painting of the school, in the 1970s, by local artist Helen Blackburne and Mr Peter George visited us to donate the painting to our school.

School meal ordering - once you have placed a meal order you need to make a payment within two hours for the order to be confirmed. ParentPay does not send out notifications of meal bookings so it is worth checking as per the steps below to make sure that meals have been booked. If card payments are not successful your bank should advise you straight away.
