  • Infant - Weekly Email - Friday 25th April

Fri 25 Apr 2025 Infant School
    Dear Parents/Carers,

We hope you had a great Easter break and had some lovely family time. It has been so good to have the children back at school, ready to learn, full of smiles and energy.

    Science Week
The children had a fantastic time during Science Week and have taken part in lots of great activities with the theme 'Change and Adapt'. They also enjoyed the opportunity to visit different classes and teachers across the school. The week culminated in the science shows led by an excellent practitioner from Science Oxford. The show (one for each Infant School year group) was called Amazing Animals where the children learnt all about animal groups and how they adapt to their habitats. Thank you to everyone who donated and a particular thanks to those of you who gave additional money towards this event.

    Science Challenge
The children have been given their certificates for completing the Spring Science Challenge. If your child completed this and has not received a certificate please let Mrs Mannion know via the school office. There was a great response with around 40 submissions! The projects are on display both in the shared area by Year 2 and on the window sill opposite Mr Haywood's office. Well done to all the children who took part.

    Nursery Gate
Please remember to close the Nursery gate as you come in and out of the playground at drop off and pick up.  Please put the chain over the gate post to ensure that children can not leave the playground unless they have their adult with them to keep them safe.  Please can you also talk to your child about this so they understand the importance of being safe and staying with their adult.

    Extra-curricular Clubs
Please see the attached flyers for football and tennis.

    Community & Cultural Events
Please see here for details of events coming up in the community.

  • Junior - Weekly email - Friday 25th April

Fri 25 Apr 2025 Junior School
    Dear Parents / Carers,

Welcome back to everyone for what looks like being a busy Summer term.

We hope that the children have enjoyed Science Week. Thank you to Miss Shine for organising all of the activities plus the Science Magic Show given by Science Oxford yesterday.

Year 5 Astronomy Roadshow - we are looking forward to the Astronomy Roadshow visiting Year 5 next week. We still have a slight shortfall for this event so if you are able to make a donation details are available on ParentMail.

Boys football - Year 5 boys played in a Six-a-side football tournament at Robertswood School yesterday and the boys played really well and made it through to the semi final stage. They only scored one goal but only conceded one goal so reached the quarter finals stage. They then won their quarter final match after a penalty shootout but sadly lost their semi final game. Well done to all of the players for a great team performance.

Inter House netball - We are very excited to be holding an InterHouse Netball competition in school this term. The Inter House netball tournament that will be held in school during the afternoon on Friday 2nd May. Each house team, made up of Year 5 & 6 children, will play up to three games against the other houses in a league in which the overall points will accumulate and go towards our sports week totals coming up at the end of June. It should be a fun afternoon of good competition between the four houses. All of the classes will have a chance to watch and support their house team during the afternoon.

Menu changes - apologies for the lack of notice about changes to desserts this week. We have asked St Josephs to let us know in advance when this is going to happen. They have informed us that on Thursday 1st May there will be a change to dessert - Jammie Dodgers instead of Strawberry Mousse (Jammie Dodgers Allergens Cereals containing Gluten , Sulphur Dioxide). If you would like to change to the Fresh Fruit option please let the office know by Wednesday.

Liberty's Legacy fundraiser - you may remember that we raised funds for this charity with our Christmas Jumper day in December. Mrs McCarthy is running the London Marathon this Sunday to raise funds for Liberty's Legacy and her Just Giving page is still live here If you wish to follow her on the London Marathon App her bib number is 36431. The app allows people to see her speed, predicted finish time and location on the course for the duration of the run. We are all sending Mrs McCarthy our very best wishes for Sunday.

Our School Amazon Wish List - for any gifts, it is always lovely to know who has donated items so we can thank you properly! The link to the gift list can be found here https://amzn.eu/fVdAqFF.  We have added a few new items recently.

  • Junio - Weekly email - Friday 4th April

Fri 04 Apr 2025 Junior School
    Dear Parents / Carers,

Remember it is early pick up today at 1:45pm!

Summer term - summer uniform will apply so ties do not need to be worn

Parking - once again we have been contacted by residents of Parsonage Road and Lagger Close regarding parents parking in an inconsiderate way at school drop off and pick up time. This has involved parents being parked across driveways meaning residents have needed to wait to leave their properties and delivery vans not being able to get up Parsonage Road either. If a delivery vehicle is not able to get up this road, then it is highly unlikely an emergency vehicle would be able to in the event of an emergency in the school - obviously causing significant risk to pupils.

Please can I remind you that Parsonage Road, in particular, should not be used at drop off and pick up time as it is too narrow and becomes too congested. Please use the car park at the playing fields or Blizzards Yard.

Science Week - we still have a significant shortfall in donations for the Science Magic show booked for Thursday 24th April. If you are able to make a donation that would be much appreciated.

Sports Week - as part of our sports week activities, we are looking for volunteers to help provide a physical / sporting activity on our active afternoon on Monday 23rd June. Please contact Mr O'Sullivan, our PE Coordinator, to discuss how you might help.

Chalfont St Smiles - CSG Parish Council have given the children sunflower seeds this week to bring home and grow. Details of the Chalfont St Smiles sunflower competition are included with the seeds.

Music Lessons - we are delighted that the piano teacher, Mrs Cicvarova, is able to extend her teaching hours at our school. She will be contacting children on waiting list for piano lessons over Easter.

Handwriting pens - here are links to our 5 preferred options, which all differ slightly in price Berol Handwriting Pen  or Stabilo Easy Original or Swash Komfigrip Handwriting Pens or Manuscript Handwriting Pens or Staedtler Handwriting Pen

Lost property - a reminder that the lost property box will be emptied over Easter.

Clubs - details of Summer Term clubs have been sent out this week - details here and Timetable

Our School Amazon Wish List - for any gifts, it is always lovely to know who has donated items so we can thank you properly! The link to the gift list can be found here https://amzn.eu/fVdAqFF.  Thank you to the kind parents who sent in gifts recently. These are very much appreciated.

    School Lunch

We have seen an increase in the amount of children bringing in packed lunches when they already have a hot meal ordered.  Please can we ask that you delete your child's hot lunch order on ParentMail in advance if you no longer wish them to have a meal as duplicating is both costly to the school and also very wasteful.  Please note that the lunches are ordered on ParentMail 3 days in advance so if you cannot delete your order, please contact the school office.

  • Junior - Weekly email - Friday 21st March

Fri 21 Mar 2025 Junior School
    Dear Parents / Carers,

Comic Relief Day - thank you for supporting Comic Relief day today. It was lovely to see so much red in school today. You can still donate via our JustGiving link here. We hope to be able to share our total next week. Many thanks

Respecting areas near to our school - It has come to our attention that there have been some concerning issues during school pick-up and drop-off times. We've been notified of litter, including sweet and crisp wrappers, being left and cars blocking local residents' driveways, particularly in Gordon Way. Please make sure you dispose of any litter properly and park considerately, respecting our neighbours' access to their properties. We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining positive relationships with our community.

Netball friendly match at Little Chalfont - the year 5s team won 24-0 and the Year 6s lost 9-6 in a close game. Well played to everyone as ever.

Football U10 girls cup competition - the Year 5 girls played three games at this tournament beating Robertswood 2-0, Losing to Holtspur 1-3 and drawing with GX 0-0. The games were very close and they played really well as a team, supporting each other and rolling on and off when being substituted. They missed out on qualifying for the semi-final on goal difference. They should be very proud of how well they did.

Year 5 Churches visit on Thursday 27th March - we would like to have another parent helper on this trip if possible. If you are able to help please can you contact the School Office or speak to a Year 5 teacher. Thank you

Sports Day - this has been confirmed as Friday 27th June

Music and Arts Dress Rehearsal - there will be a dress rehearsal taking place in school on the afternoon of Monday 24th March. Please can all children who are taking part, bring in their music, instruments or any equipment that they will need for their performances. The rehearsal is only for the children in school to watch

Music and Arts performance on Tuesday 25th March - starts at 5:30pm
    • Parsonage Road, Lagger Close and Hillside Close gates will be open from 5pm and for up to 15 minutes after the performance has finished to allow those parents and children attending to access the school site.
    • Please park considerately and avoid parking on Parsonage Road and Lagger Close.
    • Children should arrive between 5pm and 5:20pm and go straight to the Dining Hall where they will be registered. Parents are then welcome to go straight through to the Main Hall to take their seats.
    • All children who are performing should have any costumes agreed with Mr Holmes before the dress rehearsal.
