Weekly Email - Friday 6th September

Dear Parents/Carers,

 
It has been lovely to welcome everyone back to school. Our new Reception children have thoroughly enjoyed their induction sessions and there were lots of smiling faces. We are looking forward to welcoming our nursery children from Monday. We will be continuing our Growing Great Learners activities next week with lots of interesting lessons planned.
 
SCHOOL COMMUNICATION - PLEASE READ!
Please can we ask that ALL parents read this weekly email as it is likely to contain important information for your child. Previously parents have missed out on key pieces of information which have been included on the weekly email.

Update from the PTA
Welcome back and hello to new parents/ guardians at the school. We're already busy with event planning for the term (and dare we say Christmas!). So a reminder that new members or just an extra pair of hands for events is always appreciated join the 'Friends of the PTA' WhatsApp group to get updates and requests or come say hello at the AGM.
 
PTA key dates
  • Sunday 8th September - come and support our stall at the Village Street party - tuck shop goodies, candyfloss and homemade cakes
  • Monday 9th September - welcome back/ new parents breakfast cafe (see details below)
  • Weds 18th September - AGM, 19.30 school hall - join us to learn how we raise money and where it goes
  • Fri 20th September - Oktoberfest get tickets on classlist

 

PTA Breakfast Cafe
The Infant PTA are holding a breakfast cafe on Monday 9th September, 8.15 to 10.30am in the Memorial Hall. Everyone is welcome, particularly new parents to the school.
 
Please come along with your child(ren) (siblings welcome) for breakfast or a little treat before school or join us, after you have dropped them off, for tea or coffee and to be social, welcome new families and debrief after the summer holidays.
 
We will have:
breakfast for children (cereal, fruit, yoghurt, smoothies and juice), pastries, sweet treats (including homemade cakes and donuts), Preloved uniform for sale (including some logo'd items), information on the PTA and upcoming social events.
 
Earrings
Children are not permitted to wear earrings of any kind in school, including retainer earrings. If your child has their ears pierced please ensure that the earrings are taken out prior to coming in to school. Children should not have earrings taped over, they must be removed.
 
Mobile Phones
We would like to remind you that as a school we take safeguarding very seriously and accordingly, it is our policy that mobile phones are not to be used whilst on the school premises. This includes whilst visiting for class reading on Friday.
 
Please can you ensure that your phone is not just on silent but switched off whilst on site; this is to protect both you and the children.
 
Break time Snack and Water Bottles
If children are bringing in their own snack from home please can it only be fruit or vegetables. Fruit winders are not permitted.
Water bottles must only contain water, no squash please.
 
Pick Up from School
If someone else is collecting your child from school please can you contact the school office by midday.
 
Medicines in school
If your child needs to have medicines in school the office will be in touch with parents of new starters, or you are welcome to contact us to discuss this. If medical needs should change at any point please do contact the School Office.
 
KS1 Friday Reading
This will commence on Friday 20th September for Years 1 and 2. Parents are invited into their child's classroom to listen to them read from 08.45 to 08.55.
