Junior - Weekly email - Friday 8th November

Dear Parents / Carers

We hope that children have enjoyed looking at the books in the book fair this week and creating wish lists or buying some books.

Thank you to the Year 6 children who have been selling poppies in school this week. Mrs Mannion and Bella from Year 6 will be laying a wreath on behalf of the school at the village Remembrance Day parade on Sunday.

Well done to the boys U10 football team who played in a small tournament at Thorpe House yesterday - we are waiting to hear if they are through to the next round

Many thanks to the PTA for organising the hot dog lunch yesterday - your ongoing support is much appreciated.

World Diabetes Day - we are supporting World Diabetes Day on Thursday 14th November and we are inviting children to come to school wearing something blue, alongside their school uniform for a suggested donation of £1. Thank you

Library refurb - many thanks to everyone who has helped with refurbishing our school library. It is a much more welcoming space now. We are looking for some plants and rugs to add the final finishing touches and wondered if anyone had any that would be suitable to donate. We have added a few items to our Amazon wishlist, purely to give you an idea of the sort of thing that we are looking for.

Library volunteers - now that the school library is up and running, we would like to open it up at lunchtimes for the children to use and enjoy. We would be really grateful for any volunteers (with a current school DBS) who may be able to give up 30 mins of their time each week to open the library and to check books in and out. We would like to be able to open the library between 12:50 and 1:15pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please contact the office if you would be interested in this role. Mrs Franklin

Roadworks in Chalfont St Giles - next week there will be road closures for work on the Zebra crossing on The Deanway. The road closure will be between 9:30am and 2:30pm each day next week.

Head lice - we have some cases of head lice across the school - please remember to check your child's hair regularly and treat it if required. We ask that long hair is tied back. NHS info here. Thank you

Christmas lunch will be served on Wednesday 4th December. Orders to be placed / amended by Friday 22nd November please. The menu is available here. There will also be a revised menu on Wednesday 11th December.

PTA - the PTA are holding a preloved Christmas jumper sale on 29th November and they are still looking for donations of pre-loved Christmas jumpers. Donated items can be handed to a Junior School PTA member or dropped off at the school office.

PTA Christmas card orders - the ordering window will reopen from 15th November to noon on 25th November - https://shop.classfundraising.co.uk/

PTA Pop Up Christmas shopping afternoon is on Friday 13th December for children to choose gifts for family members - you can now place orders on Classlist for the different categories of gift. The deadline to per-order is Monday 24th November to allow the PTA enough time to buy a selection of gifts

Our School Amazon Wish List - for any gifts, it is always lovely to know who has donated items so we can thank you properly! The link to the gift list can be found here https://amzn.eu/fVdAqFF.
