Junior - Weekly email - Friday 30th June

Dear Parents / Carers
 
We hope that everyone has enjoyed our Sports Week. A huge thank you to Mr O'Sullivan for organising the events this week and to the parent helpers who came in to run activities, run as pace setters and act as marshalls during the week. 
 
We had a very interesting assembly on Monday morning with our MP Sarah Green talking about being an MP. Thank you to her for coming in and answering lots of our questions.
 

Snacks for morning breaks - children may bring in a fruit or vegetable snack to have during morning break. Break-time snacks should be kept in their bags in the class cloakroom. No crisps, chocolate or items from lunch boxes to b eaten during morning break please

 
Bucks Transfer Day is on Tuesday 4th July - arrangements for the day are as follows:
  • Our current Year 6 children will be visiting their new secondary schools on that day. Any Year 6 children who do not have a transfer day to attend should not be in school on Tuesday 4th July. This will be recorded as an authorised absence day for all Year 6 children. Any school lunches ordered will be cancelled by the office before 9am on Tuesday morning
  • Our new Year 3 joiners (current Year 2 children) will be visiting us for the day. We ask that our new Year 3s bring in a named water bottle, a morning snack of either fruit or vegetables and a packed lunch - more details here
    We ask that children do not bring in any food items that may contain nuts
  • Our current Year 3 to Year 5 children will spend the day in their next year group classes and all Year 3 to Year 5 children are expected to be in school on Tuesday 4th July

 

Drop off arrangement on Tuesday 4th July
  • All gates open at 8:45am - gates are at school entrance at top of Parsonage Road, just off Lagger Close (by the school field) and on the Hill Side close footpath (next to the Lower playground)
  • Current Year 2 children (New Year 3s) to wait in the lower playground at 8:45am where they will be met by Mrs English and other staff and taken into the school hall
  • Current Year 3 to Year 5 children (New Year 4s to New Year 6s) - to go to their current class for morning registration as normal

 

Pick up arrangements on Tuesday 4th July
  • End of school day is 3:30pm and all gates will be open from 3:25pm
  • New Year 3s will be brought out to the area near the wet weather shelter area of the lower playground .
  • New Year 4s will be brought out to the lower playground.near Acer class
  • New Year 5s will be brought out to the upper playground near Maple Class
  • New Year 6s will be brought out to the upper playground.near the wet weather shelter

 

Tuesday 4th July - Open Evening for current pupils and new Year 3 joiners from 6pm to 8pm - we would like to invite you to our School Open Evening. This is an informal occasion where your child can show you their current classroom and the work they have done through the year. You can also visit your child's new classroom and see where they will be in September. Staff will be available in their classrooms. Please feel free to pop in at a time that suits you. This is not a formal parents evening, but a chance to share and celebrate all that your child has achieved over the past year. All gates will be open during the Open Evening..

Note - Mr Holmes will not be available during the Open Evening but he will be in Ash class after school between 3:30pm and 4:30pm to speak to parents
 
Transition meeting for new Year 3 parents on Tuesday 4th July 2024
  • This will take place in the Dining Hall starting at 7pm and is for our new Year 3 parents

 

Uniform orders via PMG - PMG Schoolwear will be operating an appointment system over the summer for visits to their stores. They strongly suggest early booking as spaces are limited and the stores can be very busy, especially in the last few weeks of the Summer.
Please note that their Cut Off Date for ordering is August 12th, after which uniform items may not be available before children go back to school in September. PMG website - https://pmgschoolwear.co.uk

  • County Transfer Day - new Year 3s to visit, current Year 3, 4 and 5 children to move up to next year group class for the day and Year 6s visiting secondary schools today (Year 6 meal orders will be cancelled for today)
  • SEN provision & target sheets will be sent home by today
  • Music lessons today - Piano lessons with Ms Cicvarova, BMT - morning in the Music Room
  • Music lessons today - Piano and Woodwind lessons with Mrs Wayman, BMT - in the Music Room at lunchtime
  • Lego Club with Mrs Rooney in Acer Class - all year groups welcome from 12:20pm to 12:50pm
  • Reading Club with Mrs Mannick in the library - all year groups welcome from 12:50pm to 1:15pm

Thursday 6th July

  • Gym Club (Before School) with Springbucks in the Main hall - from 7:45am to 8:45am - entrance via Parsonage Road entrance only - club details

  • Art workshops with visiting local artist Elly Bazigos
  • Music lessons - Piano and Woodwind lessons with Mrs Wayman, BMT - in the music room
  • Music lessons - Violin lessons with Mrs Priestley, BMT - in the Music Room
  • Music lessons - Cello lessons with Mrs Bignall, BMT - in the Music Room
  • Afternoon concert by Bucks Music Trust staff orchestra - children who play an instrument who wish to, may join in playing the Ostinato Orchestra piece if they wish. The music has been emailed to everyone - children who want to play will need to bring in their instrumen, a music stand and a printed copy of the music. 
  • Homework club - in IT Suite for invited pupils - 3:30pm to 4:30pm - pick up from Dining Hall
  • PFO Football Club - on the School Field / Main Hall from 3:45pm to 4:45pm

Friday 7th July
  • Reading in your child's class - parents are welcome to pop into class from 8:45am until 8:55am (gastes will be open from 8:40am on Fridays)
  • Ash Class closed due to strike action - any meals ordered will be cancelled today
  • Year 6 PE day today - children to come to school in school PE Kit 
  • Music lessons - Drum lessons with MD Drumlab - in the Music Room
  • Art Club with Mrs Starrs in the Art Room - for Year 5 & 6 children from 12:45pm to 1:15pm 
  • Beech parents invited for Friday assembly - this assembly starts at 1:20pm and will be about 20 minutes - entrance is via Parsonage Road main gate only

Tuesday 11th July - Big Science Event Final for invited Year 4 group
 
Tuesday 11th July - Year 6 show dress rehearsal from 1:45pm to 3pm. This will be for Junior School children and up to 2 adults per Year 6 child, who cannot make the evening performance on the 12th July. Adults should arrive at the main entrance at 1:30. This is the only entrance that will be open for this performance
 
Wednesday 12th July - Year 6 show from 6pm to 7:30pm. Two tickets will be given to children nearer to the time. Please stick to only two people attending the performance as we are limited with space. There will be a waiting list for additional tickets – details of this will be shared nearer to the time.
 
Thursday 13th July - Year 6 Fun Day - details TBC
 
Thursday 13th July - Year 5 to visit CSG Library during the afternoon. Children with a library card will be able to borrow a book so please can the children bring in their library cards today plus any village library books that they wish to return. You can apply for a library card using this form
 
Friday 14th July - Hobbies Day - children who would like to share their hobbies can sign up for a stall / performance space - details here (note new date)
 
Friday 14th July - Bonsai  parents invited for Friday assembly - this assembly starts at 1:20pm and will be about 20 minutes - entrance is via Parsonage Road main gate only
 
Friday 14th July - PTA Summer Fun Event - see Classlist for full details and tickets - 4:30pm to 6pm for CSG Village School children (Year 2 to Year 6) and Family Event from 6pm to 7:30pm - if you can help please contact PTA or your Class Parent
 
Monday 17th July - Reports will be sent home today - if parents need separate copies please contact your class teacher or the School Office
 
Tuesday 18th July - Talent Show - children who would like to perform during this afternoon event please sign up by 30th June - details here 
 
Thursday 20th July Year 6 Leavers Assembly morning - Year 6 parents/carers are warmly invited to attend. (The leavers assembly events are for adults only. Please make alternative arrangements for children under school age)

 

  • 9:30-10:30 Certificate assembly where we celebrate the achievements of Year 6. These will include a variety of awards including the citizenship awards, sports week awards, trip awards for example. Year 5 children will also attend this assembly.
  • 10:30-11:00 Tea and coffee break for Year 6 parents 
  • 11:00-12:20 Leavers assembly where we will be joined by the rest of the school
  • 12:30 Year 6 parents leave the school site.

CSG Village Show - The Chalfont St Giles Village Show will take place on Saturday 2nd September and is held in Stone Meadow.
 
There are lots of fun competitions which are open to all ages. They include gardening, cookery, craft, art, photography and technology. You can view the different classes on the online schedule the online schedule here  or pick up a schedule from Yalden’s or The Olde Post House. Full details on our website here www.csgshow.org
 
You can enter online which is the quickest and easiest method, or if you do not have online access, you can use the form which is in the schedule . There are many cash prizes and cups to be won.
 
The Chalfonts Beekeepers Society also sponsors a Pre-Show Colouring Competition which can be downloaded here   http://www.csgshow.org/honey_Hatters.pdf /  Classes for this competition are Classes are: Pre-school/Nursery, Reception/Year 1, Years 2/3, Years 4/5/6. Paper copies of the template are available from the school office and may be coloured in using any medium. Templates will also be available from the library and the show website  www.csgshow.org/downloads.html and all Colouring Competition entries should be handed in to the Chalfont St. Giles Library no later than noon on Tuesday 29th August 2023.
 
The Competitions at the show offer a great opportunity to show off your skills as well as a fantastic family day out. Come and join us!  
 
The Hodgemoor Wildlife Junior Photography Award. The Hodgemoor Riding Association and its members are sponsoring a photography competition in the Junior Photography Section. Look out for more details
