Junior - Weekly email - Friday 28th June

Dear Parents / Carers
 
Thank you to the parents who came in to support our Sports Carousel of activities on Monday afternoon - this enabled us to have 6 different activities for children to take part in. Also huge thanks to our pace makers in the mini marathon yesterday.
 
We hope that everyone enjoyed sports day today in the slightly cooler weather. Thank you to the PTA who generously paid for a new sound system - you may have heard it in action this week.
 
Annual Survey for Parents - please can you take a few moments to complete our online survey here https://forms.gle/dg2mssvMe47ABFPG8. This survey will be open until Friday 5th July 2024 and is for both Infant School and Junior School children. We ask that you complete one survey per family.

Junior School Transfer Day is on Tuesday 2nd July - arrangements for the day are as follows:
  • Our current Year 6 children will be visiting their new secondary schools on that day. Any Year 6 children who do not have a transfer day to attend should not be in school on Tuesday 2nd July. This will be recorded as an authorised absence day for all Year 6 children. Any school lunches ordered will be cancelled by the office before 9am on Tuesday morning
  • Our new Year 3 joiners (current Year 2 children) will be visiting us for the day. We ask that our new Year 3bring in a named water bottle, a morning snack of either fruit or vegetables and a packed lunch - more details here
  • Our current Year 3 to Year 5 children will spend the day in their next year group classes and all Year 3 to Year 5 children are expected to be in school on Tuesday 2nd July
  • You will be advised of your child's new class, along with the whole school staffing structure, on the 2nd July.
  • We ask that children do not bring in any food items that contain nuts, kiwi fruit or sesame seeds on this day as we have a child with a severe allergy to these ingredients

 

Drop off arrangement on Tuesday 2nd July
  • All gates open at 8:45am - gates are at school entrance at top of Parsonage Road, just off Lagger Close (by the school field) and on the Hillside Close footpath (next to the Lower Playground)
  • Current Year 2 children (New Year 3s) to wait in the lower playground at 8:45am where they will be met by Mrs English and other staff and taken into the school hall
  • Current Year 3 to Year 5 children (New Year 4s to New Year 6s) - to go to their current class for morning registration as normal
  • Current Year 6 children should not be in school today

 

Pick up arrangements on Tuesday 2nd July
  • End of school day is 3:30pm and all gates will be open from 3:25pm
  • New Year 3s will be brought out to the area near the wet weather shelter area of the lower playground .
  • New Year 4s will be brought out to the lower playground.near Acer class
  • New Year 5s will be brought out to the upper playground near Maple Class
  • New Year 6s will be brought out to the upper playground.near the wet weather shelter

Tuesday 2nd July

  • Early Birds Breakfast Club in the ATA Room from 8am to 8:45am - this club is for invited children only (current Year 4 to Year 6 children who attended last year are welcome to continue in this club) - entrance via main Parsonage Road gate and via main school entrance
  • Morning Maths Club in the ICT Suite from 8:15am to 8:45am - this club is for invited children only - (current Year 4 to Year 6 children who attended last year are welcome to continue in this club)  entrance via main Parsonage Road gate and via main school entrance
  • Music lessons - Piano lessons with Ms Cicvarova, BMT - in the Music Room 
  • Music lessons - Piano and Woodwind lessons with Mrs Wayman, BMT - in the Music Room
  • Lego Club at lunchtime today - Lego Club with Mrs Rooney in Acer Class is for children who have signed up and runs from from 12:20pm to 12:50pm (children to have lunch after this club)
  • Year 4 & Year 5 Netball Club with Mr Ballard on the Upper Playground - please remember sports kit & trainers - now for Years 4 and 5 from 3:30pm to 4:45pm (please can girls change in their classrooms at the end of the day) - pick up from Top Playground
  • Cookery Club with Smart Raspberry in the Dining Hall from 3:30pm to 4:30pm
  • Rocky Road club after school today - Rocky Road Club with Mrs Rock & Mr Shankland for invited children in the ATA room from 3:30pm to 4:30pm
  • Open Evening for current pupils and new Year 3 joiners from 6pm to 7:30pm - we would like to invite you to our School Open Evening. This is an informal occasion where your child can show you their current classroom and the work they have done through the year. You can also visit your child's new classroom and see where they will be in September. Staff will be available in their classrooms. Please feel free to pop in at a time that suits you. This is not a formal parents evening, but a chance to share and celebrate all that your child has achieved over the past year.  All three gates will be open during the Open Evening - main entrance on Parsonage Road, side gate from Hillside Close footpath onto lower playground and the side gate from Lagger Close. Parking is available by the playing fields and it is a level walk into school from there.
  • Induction meeting for new Year 3 parents  - this will take place in the Dining Hall starting at 7pm and is for our new Year 3 parents

 

Wednesday 3rd July

  • Reading Club at lunchtime today with Mrs Franklin in the library - all children are welcome to drop in from 12:50pm to 1:15pm (children to have lunch before going to the library)
  • Year 5 & 6 children - additional swimming lessons for invited children
  • Music lessons - Drum lessons with Teach Me Drums  - in the Music Room during the morning
  • Music lessons - Piano lessons with Ms Cicvarova, BMT - in the Music Room during the afternoon
  • Tennis club with Mark Schofield on the Upper playground from 3:30pm to 4:30pm - pickup from Top Playground
 
Thursday 4th July
  • Gym Club (Before School) with Springbucks in the Main hall - from 7:45am to 8:45am - entrance via Parsonage Road entrance only
  • Year 4 PE day today - children to come to school in PE Kit
  • Music lessons - Piano and Woodwind lessons with Mrs Wayman, BMT - in the music room
  • Music lessons - Strings lessons with Mrs Priestley, BMT - in the Music Room
  • Art Club at lunchtime today - Art Club with Mrs Starrs in the Art Room is for Year 5 & 6 children who have signed up and is from 12:45pm to 1:15pm (children to have lunch before going to this club) 
  • Homework club is on today in the IT Suite for invited pupils - from 3:30pm to 4:30pm - pick up from the Dining Hall at 4:30pm
  • Year 5 / 6 Athletics / Cricket / Softball Club with Mr Ballard - with Mr Ballard on the Main Hall / Field - please remember sports kit & trainers - for Years 5 and 6 from 3:30pm to 4:45pm - children can change in the Main hall and pick up from Main Hall (or Field)
  • Year 4 Flag Football Club after school today with Mr Holmes on the Top Field / Main Hall - please remember that your child will need to have P.E kit, a gum shield and trainers for this club - from 3:45 to 4:45pm - pick up from the back of the Main Hall
 
Friday 5th July 
  • Non Uniform day today as thanks for donating items for the PTA Jolly Jars Tombola Stall - the PTA have sent home plastic pint pots to be filled for their tombola stall at the PTA Summer Party - please return filled pots to school  - drop off on Friday in the Dining Hall Dining Hall
  • Reading in your child's class - parents are welcome to pop into class from 8:45am until 8:55am (gates will be open from 8:40am on Fridays)
  • Year 6 PE day today - children to come to school in school PE Kit
  • Music lessons - Drum lessons with Teach me Drums - in the Music Room during the day
  • Oak parents invited for Friday assembly - this assembly starts at 1:20pm and will be about 20 minutes - entrance is via Parsonage Road main gate only
  • Street Dance with Tuffney Performing Arts - in the Main Hall from 3:30pm to 4:15pm

Woodrow is hosting a Summer Fun Day on Sunday 30th June, from 11am till 3pm. Entry is free, as is parking, and we wish to invite residents and existing customers from our local communities to come and join in the fun.- details are here and here

Tuesday 9th July - Year 3 Songs of Praise service at village church (11:30 to 12 service – family and friends are invited to attend)
 
Tuesday 9th July - Year 6 Dress Rehearsal production -  from 1:45pm-3pm - This will be for the Junior School children and for up to 2 adults, per Year 6 child, who cannot make the evening performance on the 10th July. Adults should arrive at the main entrance on Parsonage Road at 1:30. This is the only entrance that will be open at this time. Seat reservation information here
 
Wednesday 10th July - Year 6 Production - Evening performance from 6pm-7:30pm. Two tickets will be given to children nearer to the time. Please stick to only two people attending the performance as we are limited with space. There is a waiting list for additional tickets as per the recent email.

Friday 12th July - Junior PTA Summer Party after school - for CSGVS Year 2 to Year 6 children - ticket and food ordering details are available on Classlist. The summer raffle will be drawn at this event

Tuesday 23rd July - Year 6 Leavers Assembly morning - Year 6 parents/carers are warmly invited to attend
  • 9:30-10:30 Certificate assembly where we celebrate the achievements of Year 6. These will include a variety of awards including the citizenship awards, sports week awards, trip awards for example. Year 5 children will also attend this assembly.
  • 10:30-11:00 Tea and coffee break for parents
  • 11:00-12:20 Leavers assembly where we will be joined by the rest of the school
  • 12:30 Parents leave the school site
  • 12:30 Year 6 picnic lunch
