Junior - Weekly email - Friday 20th October

Dear Parents / Carers

Waddesdon project - Earlier this term every child took part in a special project for Waddesdon Manor. Walk through the Coach House at the Stables and you’ll find artwork created by thousands of local schoolchildren, all inspired by The Lights That Dance in the Night  by Yuval Zommer. You’ll spot willow lanterns of wolves and puffins, created in collaboration with artist Michelle Dufaur, and glittering overhead will be the Aurora Borealis. To celebrate this project we have been given a one-off discount to buy tickets for the event. Today, all children have been sent home with their code.

Please note:
  • Your code gives you a free child grounds ticket, and half price grounds entry for 2 accompanying adults and 2 extra children (there are ticket options for both members and non-members).
  • The code will not work when trying to book the house, as it is a grounds-only offer
  • Booking link is https://waddesdon.org.uk/whats-on/christmas/
Please find attached here a step-by-step guide to booking your tickets. Miss Payne

Author Visit- Robin Stevens - Author of the 'Murder Most Unladylike Series' On Thursday 9th November, the popular Author Robin Stevens will be visiting the school to lead a reading workshop with years 4-6. As you may be aware, this is a very well-liked series by our children and this is a very exciting opportunity. In the workshop, the children will find out about her brand-new book The Body In The Blitz - the second instalment in The Ministry of Unladylike Activity series. Robin will share her tips and tricks on how to write the perfect murder mystery and the inspiration behind her new team of detectives.

To pre-order copies of the books, ready to be signed and dedicated at school on the day, please click the link below and place your order through Chiltern Bookshops by 5pm, on Wednesday 8th November.

School Day - a reminder that the school day starts at 8.55am with the doors opening at 8.45am and finishes at 3:30pm. Please ensure your child is here by 8.55am as it is very disruptive for both them and the other children walking into class late. Side gates are locked at 9am so entrance after then is via the main school entrance only.

Head lice - we are still seeing some cases of head lice across the school - please remember to check your child's hair regularly and treat it if required. We ask that long hair is tied back. NHS info here. Thank you

Loom Bands - please note that after half term loom bands should not be brought into school

Poppies - Year 6 will be selling poppies in school after the half term break

Clubs cancellations - please note that we will try to list any changes to clubs in the weekly email whenever possible

School photographs - the contact sheets will be given out after half term, on Tuesday 31st October. There will be free delivery to school for orders placed by 9th November

Thank you to the PTA for organising the Second Hand Uniform and Krispy Kreme sale yesterday.
