Junior - Weekly email - Friday 14th July

Dear Parents / Carers

Thank you to everyone for their support during what has been a very busy week in school

Thank you to Milton's Cottage for inviting our Year 3s to visit and to the parent volunteers who went down to explore this lovely little museum in our village.

Congratulations to Aanya and Anaya for doing so brilliantly at the Science Oxford final on Tuesday. We are so proud of them - they came second out of all of the schools that made it through to the final which is a huge achievement.

Year 6 put on a fabulous production of Robin and The Sherwood Hoodies on Wednesday - it was a joy to see them all performing with such confidence and enjoyment. A massive team effort from of all of Year 6 - well done to them all, We hoped Year 6 all enjoyed themselves at their Bouncy Day yesterday. A massive thank you to the Year 6 staff for organizing these two events.

It was obvious that children sharing their hobbies today had put a lot of thought and effort into their displays. Ranging from crystals and crochet to cricket and karate it was great to learn more about some of the activities our children do out of school, and to see them talking to other children and parents with such confidence.

TikTok - new TikTok parental controls allows blocking of video topics  - please check this link to learn more https://gooseberryplanet.com/new-tiktok-parental-controls-allows-blocking-of-video-topics/

The CSG Junior's Talent Show is taking place on Tuesday - this is only for the children to watch and will take place during the afternoon session. If your child is taking part and needs a backing track please can you make sure that you send this in to the Junior Office as soon as possible. Mrs English will be talking to everyone taking part on Monday so it would be great if we could all of the backing tracks in by Monday morning.

Music Lessons - details of music lessons for next year are now available on the music page of the website here

School meal ordering - the menus for the autumn term are now available on the website here. We are currently adding meal information to ParentMail and hope to publish these next week so that you can place meal orders for the autumn term

School clubs - details of clubs taking place in the autumn term will be available before the end of term. You will be able to book external club places shortly and school led clubs in the new term in September

Uniform orders via PMG - PMG Schoolwear will be operating an appointment system over the summer for visits to their stores. They strongly suggest early booking as spaces are limited and the stores can be very busy, especially in the last few weeks of the Summer. Please note that their Cut Off Date for ordering is August 12th, after which uniform items may not be available before children go back to school in September. PMG website - https://pmgschoolwear.co.uk

Second hand uniform is also available from the PTA who hold regular sales in school or they can be contacted via Classlist

Head Lice - we are still seeing cases of head lice across all year groups - please check your child's hair regularly and treat it if required. We ask that long hair is tied back. NHS info here . Thank you

Lost Property - there is an overflowing box of lost property in the dining hall. If you are missing any items please take a moment to check in there. Any remaining Lost Property items will be disposed of over the holiday

Amazon Wish List - a huge thanks for the donations that we have received this week. For future gifts, it is always lovely to know who has sent them so we can thank you properly! The link to the gift list can be found here https://amzn.eu/fVdAqFF

PTA Supermarket Vouchers scheme - the PTA are looking for someone to take on running the Supermarket Voucher scheme from September 2023. The current volunteer is happy to do handover training. The scheme will have to end in September unless a new parent/volunteer is found. It's only a couple of hours a month and worth over £1,000 a year to the school so it would be a real lost opportunity to have to close the scheme.
