Junior - Weekly email - Friday 10th February

Dear Parents / Carers

Thank you to Springbucks Gym club for running gym sessions for Year 3 and 4 children this week.

Safer Internet Day - on Tuesday 7th February we joined schools and youth organisations across the UK in celebrating Safer Internet Day 2023. Safer Internet Day is a global campaign to promote the safe and responsible use of technology, which calls on children and young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies, policymakers and more, to help to create a better internet.

Using the internet safely and positively is a key message that we promote in school, and celebrating Safer Internet Day is a great opportunity for us to re-emphasise the online safety messages we deliver throughout the year. We would be delighted if you could join us in celebrating the day by continuing the conversation at home.

To help you with this, the UK Safer Internet Centre has created some free activities and information for parents and carers which are available at: https://saferinternet.org.uk/safer-internet-day/safer-internet-day-2023/parents-and-carers . Whether you have 5 minutes to start a conversation or hours to spare, there are top tips, quizzes and films which you can use at home with your child. If you have any concerns or questions about keeping your child safe online, please do get in touch with your child’s class teacher or Mr Haywood, our Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Football matches Well done to the U11s team who won their first league match on Tuesday. They put in a solid performance and won 3-0 against Little Chalfont. This team also convincingly won their cup game against St Mary's in Farnham Royal. Their 5-0 win puts them through to the next round of the U11 boys cup. Thank you to Mr Holmes for managing this team

Author visit - on Tuesday 21st February, author Jack Meggitt-Phillips will be visiting the school. To pre-order copies of the books, ready to be signed and dedicated at school on the day, please click the link below and place your order through
Chiltern Bookshops by 5pm, Monday 20th February

About the series 'The Beast and the Bethany': Ebenezer Tweezer is a youthful 511-year-old. He keeps a beast in the attic of his mansion, who hefeeds all manner of things (including performing monkeys, his pet cat and the occasional cactus) and in return the beast vomits out presents for Ebenezer, as well as potions which keep him young and beautiful. But the beast grows ever greedier, and soon only a nice, juicy child will do. So when Ebenezer encounters orphan Bethany, it seems like (everlasting) life will go on as normal. But Bethany is not your average orphan . . .

The ordered books will be brought to school on the day of the visit. Only books purchased through this link will be signed and dedicated on the day.
