Junior - Weekly email - Friday 6th March

Dear Parents / Carers
 
We have had a busy week with PE Festivals, football matches, church services, library visits, dance workshops and World Book Day. Thank you to everyone who has helped us to make these events a success.
 
It was fantastic to see all of the creative World Book Day costumes yesterday illustrating everyone's wonderful words
 
Weekly Attendance - Attendance at the Junior School this week 96.5%, year to date 94.9% We are aiming for an average of 96% this year.
 
Smartphone Free Childhood parent talk - there will be a meeting at the Junior School on the afternoon of Friday 13th March - details here. Entrance will only be via the main Parsonage Road entrance.
 
Year 4 trip to Neasden Temple on Tuesday 24th March - we still need one more adult to help on this trip. If you are able to help please speak to a Year 4 class helper or contact the office
 
PTA Fundraising update:
 
Thank you to our fabulous class mums who are working to compile the chocolate/sweet/Easter themed hampers. If it is easier for you to drop donations (which are gratefully received) the office are also happy to take these. If you are able to donate a small chocolate or egg/bag of sweets/easter themed hamper item it is very much appreciated. We are asking for donations to your class mum or office up until Monday 23/03/2026. 
 
PTA Event Dates:
  • Krispy Kreme Doughnut sale - pre-orders only  with a very small number of single doughnuts available for purchase. Collection from 3:25pm in the Dining Hall today, Friday 6th March 2026  
  • Mother's Day gift collection - Friday 13th March at pick up. It is a HARD DEADLINE OF MONDAY 9TH MARCH 12:00 to enable us to compile the gifts in time. Tickets available on classlist.
  • Easter themed Disco - event timings 5:30pm to 7pm - Friday 13th March  
  • Easter Bake Sale on lower playground - Thursday 26th March
  • Easter chocolate hamper raffle draw - Thursday 26th March.  Tickets now available via Classlist.

  • Charity Clothing bin - at Parsonage Road entrance behind the fence, open in school hours.
  • Movement for Good - voting details on Classlist - it takes two minutes to do and the more votes for Chalfont St Giles Junior School the more chances we have to win. It is a voting scheme to win £1000

Lost property - we have a pair of girls black F&F size 5 shoes in the office that were left in a Sketchers bag after a club this week. We also have a denim jacket and a bag left at the Taylor Swift concert. We have a lot of unnamed hoodies and jumpers in the lost property box in the dining hall. A reminder that this box will be emptied over the Easter holidays

  • Lego club with Mrs Rooney in Acer Class - a drop in club for all children (numbers permitting on any given day from 12:20pm to 12:50pm
  • Drama Club with Mrs Thomson in the Main Hall from  12.20pm to 12.50pm  - Year 5 & 6 club
  • Music lessons - Piano lessons with Ms Cicvarova, BMT - in the Music Room during the afternoon
  • Music and Arts performers - run through for all performers this afternoon - children will need to bring in any music, kit or instruments that they need
  • Captiv8 Life / PFO Football Club on the School Field from 3:45pm to 4:45pm - pickup from the back of Main Hall 
  • Cookery Club with Smart Raspberry in the Dining Hall from 3:30pm to 4:30pm
  • Rocky Road club with Mrs Rock & Mr Shankland for invited children in the ATA room from 3:30pm to 4:30pm
  • NO Year 5 & 6 Netball club due to the match
  • Netball Match Green team - home match v St Mary's Beaconsfield - details have been sent to selected players 

 

Wednesday 11th March
  • Year 5 PE day today - children to come to school in school PE Kit
  • Music lessons - Cello lessons with Mrs Sackman-Smith, BMT- in the Music Room this morning
  • Music lessons - Piano lessons with Ms Cicvarova, BMT - in the Music Room this afternoon
  • Year 5 Maple class - swimming lessons - details here - children to wear PE kit and to bring in swimming kit with towels (& goggles if required)
  • Tennis club with Mark Schofield on Top Playground from 3:30pm to 4:30pm
  • Year 5 & 6 Girls Football Club with Mr O'Sullivan on the School Field from 3:30pm to 4:45pm - football boots & shin pads plus football kit or PE kit - to change in and pick up from Beech Class
 
Thursday 12th March
  • Gym Club (Before School) with Springbucks in the Main hall - from 7:45am to 8:45am - entrance via Parsonage Road entrance only
  • Year 4 PE day today - children to come to school in school PE Kit
  • Music lessons - Piano and Woodwind lessons with Mrs Wayman, BMT- in the Music Room this morning
  • Art club with Mrs Starrs - Year 6 in the Art Room from 12:45 to 1:15pm
  • NO Year 5 & 6 Football Club with Mr Holmes today due to the match
  • Football match - U11 Boys Football Match Away vs St Marys, Beaconsfield - manager Mr Holmes -  details have been sent to selected players

Friday 13th March
  • Early doors opening - parents are welcome to pop into class, to read with your child or look at work books, from 8:45am until 8:55am (gates will be open from 8:40am on Fridays)
  • Year 6 PE day today - children to come to school in school PE Kit (Dance workshop)
  • Music lessons - Piano and Woodwind lessons with Mrs Wayman, BMT - in the Music Room at the start of the day 
  • Music lessons - Drum lessons with Teach me Drums - in the Music Room during the day
  • Year 6 - Dance Workshop during PE session today (week 3 of 4)
