Junior - Weekly Email - Friday 4th July

Dear Parents / Carers,

It was lovely to welcome our new Year 3s into school on Tuesday and we hope that Year 6 children enjoyed visiting their new secondary schools. A copy of the staffing letter for next year is available here

House Music - a huge well done to everyone who took part in the house music yesterday. We have some fantastic singers and musicians in school. Congratulations to Water House who were the winners

Book Fair - next week we have a Travelling Books book fair coming to our school. This is always a great opportunity for the children to browse and buy new books from a variety of excellent authors. A list of some of the books available can be found here:  https://bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/travelling-books/parents Each year group will have opportunities to visit the fair during the week and to purchase books
  • Cash payments - We will be accepting cash payments for books. We ask that if you choose to do this, that all money is in a sealed envelope and that your child gives this to their class teacher for safekeeping before the fair
  • Travelling Books Book Vouchers - It is also possible to pre-order Travelling Books vouchers to send in rather than cash to spend at the fair. Instructions on how to do this can be found here: https://bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/travelling-books/parents#vouchers
  • Order online via Travelling books website - You can scan the QR code on the wish list flyer attached or visit this site https://bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/travelling-books/pay and search for our school to place online orders. Online orders must be placed by 4pm on Thursday 10th July.
  • The children will have two opportunities to visit the book fair which will be on different days of the week. Therefore if any money or vouchers to buy books is brought in on Monday 7th July, then this will ensure your child has their money ready for their slot. Class Teachers will remind children of the days they are visiting. We appreciate that it may not be possible to spare money to spend at the book fair. Class teachers will encourage children to write 'wish lists' to take home for future occasions e.g Christmas / Birthdays. We will also encourage each class to suggest their favourite book from the fair and we will see if we can purchase copies for our school library.
Parent Survey - if you have not already done so please take a moment to complete our parent survey - link to the Junior Survey is https://forms.gle/3KHWTQYauqn9oPiL9

Summer Reading Challenge 2025 -  This year’s Summer Reading Challenge starts on Saturday July 5 in Chalfont St Giles Library, along with other libraries in Buckinghamshire. The theme is Story Garden. Children will be issued with a starter pack and the challenge is to read six books of their choice. They will receive stickers as they go along and a certificate and a medal upon completion. Further details here

Forks - we have lost a lot of forks from the dining hall recently. If your child accidentally brings one home with their packed lunch please can they be returned to school via the office. Many thanks

Head lice - we are seeing quite a few cases of head lice across the school - please remember to check your child's hair regularly and treat it if required. We ask that long hair is tied back. NHS info here. Thank you

Book sales - thank you to everyone for your book donations. Year 6 children raised £97.70 selling pre-loved books this week and this money will be used to buy new literacy books in school.

Clubs for Autumn term - the following external clubs have been confirmed for the autumn term. We will share details of all clubs in the autumn term
PMG Uniform - PMG will be operating an appointment system this Summer for visits to their stores. They strongly suggest early booking as spaces are limited and the store can be very busy especially in the last few weeks of the Summer. You may have to queue if you do not have an appointment. Please also be aware that the Cut Off date is August 12th after which Uniform may not be available before children go back to school

Littlewalkers Wraparound Care for CSG Village School children - contact Michael Walker on littlewalkers17@gmail.com for bookings and enquiries about our before and after school club
