Dear Parents / Carers
PTA Spooky Bake Sale - a huge thank you to the PTA and everyone who helped raise an amazing £660 at the spooky bake sales this week.
Year 3 and 4 raised the most money so they have had a celebration this afternoon. Our Spookiest Star Baker was Chloe B in Year 5 and Runners Up were Sebastian R, Elinor D and Isabella T. Congratulations to them all.
Papaya - We were pleased to welcome Laura Cowan from Papaya (Parents Against Phone Abuse in Young Adolescents) over the past two weeks to run a workshop in every class. The children completed various activities and discussed the positive and negative impacts of technology. The children found out about dopamine and how technology companies try to increase the time spent online in order to make money. They also explored some of the impacts of technology on mental and physical health. If you would like to find out more, please take a look at their website: https://www.papayatalks.com and consider at what age your child will access a smartphone.
Odd Socks Day - 10th November is Odd Socks Day and the start of Anti-bullying Week The theme for this year is: Use your power for good. During the week, the children will be reminded about our policy of 'Stand Up, Speak Out' and who they can turn to if they have any concerns about possible bullying. The children are welcome to wear odd socks to school on Monday 10th in order to open discussions about this important topic.
Weekly Attendance - each week we will let you know the weekly attendance for the whole school. Juniors: This week: 94.2%, year to date: 95.4%, national average: 95.8%. We are aware there has been a lot of sickness circulating but we are hopeful we will see an upturn in attendance in the next half term. Attendance will continue to be monitored going forward and any cause for concern will be addressed.
Lateness also continues to be an issue for some pupils. Please ensure your child arrives in time and ready for school before the final bell rings at 8.55am. Lateness can cause disruption in the class and may mean that your child is missing out on vital learning.
PTA launch of My School Lottery - we are very excited to announce that we have joined My School Lottery and you are now able to sign up for this national lottery to support our school raise funds
Art Club Blog - the art club have created a blog to showcase the efforts of the Art Club this half term - link here
