Junior - Weekly email - Friday 13th July

Dear Parents / Carers,
 
We hope that Year 5 children enjoyed the History of Sound workshops this week. These were run by some amazing musicians from Vache Baroque. 
 
Athletes in schools visit - after an inspirational talk this morning, Team GB athlete Chad Miller has been helping children learn about relay running and technique. Huge thanks to the PTA for sponsoring this event.
 
House Music - this will take place on Thursday 3rd July and we have extended the deadline to enter. Entries to be submitted by 9am on Monday 16th July - form here
 
Year 5 CAT tests - letters with Cat test information have been sent home from school this week.
Class photos - these have been delivered to school and will be coming home with children in the next few days.
 
Author visit - You have until 5pm on Sunday 15th June.to pre-order copies of Frank Cottrell-Boyce's latest book, ready to be signed and dedicated on Monday - please use the link here

Friday 20th June
  • Reading in your child's class - parents are welcome to pop into class from 8:45am until 8:55am (gates will be open from 8:40am on Fridays)
  • Music lessons - Piano and Woodwind lessons with Mrs Wayman, BMT - in the Music Room at the start of the day
  • Music lessons - Drum lessons with Teach me Drums - in the Music Room during the day
  • Dance Club with Pips Dance Academy in the Main Hall from 3:30pm to 4:15pm - open to all hear groups - pick up from Main Hall
  • Flag Football Club with Mr Holmes TODAY on the Top Playground / Change in Palm Classroom Year 4 & 5 - children will need to have PE kit, trainers and a gum shield for this club - from 3:30pm to 4:45pm  - pick up from the top playground / Palm class

Monday 23rd June - Active Afternoon – for the Active Afternoon children to come into school wearing regular school PE kit and trainers.There will be lots of different activities for children to do as a class during the afternoon and there will not be room for parents to spectate at this event.

Tuesday 24th June – CSG Mini Marathon - for the Mini Marathon Junior children are to come into school wearing regular school PE kit and trainers. We will be holding our CSG mini marathon at the Junior School where the Infant and Junior children will all run laps! Each year group will have an allocated time slot during the morning. There will not be room for parents to spectate at this event.
 
Wednesday 25th June - Carousel of activities (LKS2 = Year 3 & Year 4) from 9am – 11am.  For the Carousel of Activities children are to come into school wearing their house-coloured T-shirt with PE kit, black shorts and trainers. Year 3 and Year 4 parents are welcome to join us. One parent of each child in year 3 and Year 4 are invited to join us. (Parents attending will accompany the group their child is in as they rotate through a carousel of various physical activities.  All gates will be open until 9am as normal. Between 9am and 11am only the main school entrance on Parsonage Road will be open. The Lagger Close gate will be open between 11am and 11:10am to exit the site.

Friday 27th June – School Sports Day – for Sports Day all children are to come into school wearing their house-coloured T-shirt with PE kit, black shorts and trainers. Parents are welcome to attend the afternoon of sports day – events will take place on the school field between 1:10pm and 3:20pm. Please note access to the field is via The Lagger Close gate and the side footpath gate from the staff car park on the Parsonage Road entrance. These will only be unlocked between 1pm and 1:30pm. After that entrance and exit is only via the main school entrance until the school gates are unlocked for the end of the day at 3:25pm.
 
Tuesday 1st July - Bucks County Transition Day / Transfer Day - Year 6 children will attend their new Secondary school on this day. No Year 6 children to be in school. New Year 3 children will join us for the day. (Any meals ordered by Year 6 will be cancelled for today)
 
Tuesday 1st July - Open Evening for current children and children joining us in September 2025 - school will be open from 6pm to 7:30pm
 
Tuesday 1st July - Induction meeting for new Year 3 parents - a meeting will be held in the DIning Hall for new year 3 parents - starting at 7pm
 
Wednesday 2nd July - Class Parent Reps meeting at 9am
 
Wednesday 2nd July - book sale of pre-loved donated books led by Year 6 to raise funds for new book stock - at lunchtime (12:45 to 1:15pm) for children to buy and after school - 50p per book
 
Thursday 3rd July - House Music Competition today
 
Friday 4th July - Non Uniform day in return for bringing in filled Jolly Jars / Pots for the PTA Summer Fun Event
 
Friday 4th July - No Family Event today - there will be a Family Event in the Autumn term (date TBC) instead of the one planned for today
 
Monday 7th to Friday 11th July - Scholastic Book Fair in school - details TBC
 
Tuesday 8th July - Year 3 day trip to PACCAR - details here
 
Tuesday 8th July - Year 5 to attend Songs of Praise service at village church (11:30 to 12 service – family and friends are invited to attend)

Friday 18th July - Year 6 parents are invited to attend the Awards Assembly today - this assembly starts at 1:20pm and entrance is via the main Parsonage Road entrance only. The Year 6 Awards will be given out during this final Awards Assembly of the year. We request a max of two parents per child to attend this assembly please

Wednesday 23rd July - Year 6 Leavers Assembly morning - parents / carers are warmly invited to attend, Please note that the leavers assembly events are for adults only. Please make alternative arrangements for children under school age. Year 6s picnic / packed lunch together today

Free Tster swimming lessons - Stoke Mandeville Stadium and Aqua Vale are currently offering free taster swim lessons and a special "pay nothing until July 1st" discount. This offer runs until the end of the month. Both locations have a wide variety of times and days available to suit different schedules. Chiltern Music Academy - Find Your Forte - Free Instrument Trials  details here  The next of our two FREE instrument trials is happening on Saturday 14th June at Wycombe High School. Children currently in years 2-5 can try a variety of brass, wind and string instruments and can learn with us from September. Sunday 15th June - The Aylesbury Games will take place on Father’s Day (Sunday 15th June) in Vale Park, and is an opportunity for visitors to take part in a variety of sports, hobbies and clubs, with the aim of discovering something new to enjoy in the local area.

 

  • Fun challenges and old school sports day races with DJ Dan Blaze in the Main Arena
  • Three demo zones showcasing sports and hobbies, from wheelchair basketball to theatre to healthy eating
  • Activity zones for visitors to ‘have-a-go’ with a range of sports
  • Local organisations, such as Code Ninjas, Aylesbury United and Dead Universe Comics, offering games, challenges, arts and crafts
