  • Reception Bekonscot TripAs part of our topic work on houses and homes Pearl and Sapphire Class will be visiting the Bekonscot Model Village in Beaconsfield on Tuesday 3rd March 2026. The cost of the trip is £16.99 per child. The children will be attending a workshop and taking a trip on the Bekonscot Light Railway! The children will need to wear their school uniform and bring their lunch in a carrier bag with an additional drink. Please do not order a lunch on ParentPay or cancel it if you have already ordered a lunch for this day. According to the forecast, please dress appropriately for the weather including a waterproof coat and layers if necessary as we will be outside all day. This is a voluntary contribution, however, if we do not receive sufficient contributions the trip may no longer be viable and we may have to cancel it. Payments are to be made via ParentPay. If you have difficulty in making this payment please contact the school office to discuss in confidence. As part of the payment process you will be asked to give your consent for your child to attend the visit. Parents are also reminded to inform the school regarding any changes to medical conditions and other considerations of your child including any changes to emergency contact numbers. If you have a Chalfont St Giles Village School DBS and are available to help on the trip, please contact your class teacher.

  • World Book DayAs part of our celebrations for World Book Day on Thursday 5th March 2026, I would like to share with you our plans for the day. On World Book Day this year, we would like to invite your children to come to school dressed as an exciting word, with our theme being ‘Wonderful Words.’ The possibilities for this are endless and I have attached some images and words at the end of this letter to help with ideas. As always, dressing up is optional, and your child can wear their school uniform if they would prefer not to take part. Reading widely is key to enriching our children’s language and vocabulary. If each child were to learn 10 new words on World Book Day, we would be adding around 1800 to our collective vocabulary. In addition to this theme, we will be running a second-hand book sale where all children will have the opportunity to visit on World Book Day. We will be asking for a donation of 50p for a book and kindly ask that children initially only bring in one 50p for one book, so we can ensure all children are able to choose one. Any books left over at the end of the sale will be available after school, as the PTA will be running a sale at 3:15pm. If you have any books at home that are suitable for infant school age children ages 4-7, we would be very grateful for donations towards this.
