Weekly email with initial planning details for September - sent Friday 10th July

Hello All,

Our plans for September are coming along well. Staff are excited about the prospect of seeing all of the children again. We are currently working hard on the plans to make sure that we meet all of the requirements and we create a welcoming and safe environment for all.

On their return our first focus will be the wellbeing of your children so we will continue the tradition of our Learn to Learn weeks from 3rd -11th September. This time will allow:

  • Staff to get to know your children through fun, interactive and creative activities
  • Children to build their confidence and feel safe
  • Children to build their capacity to work collaboratively as they get used to being with larger groups of children again
  • Children to develop knowledge of themselves through exploring feelings and emotions
  • Children and staff to develop routines so that we can all work safely at school

This time at school is really important for the children and staff, research shows that investing time in these areas at the beginning of the year means that children are more ready to learn. We are, of course, planning the core curriculum that will sit alongside this work so that we can begin the journey to getting back on track.

Of course, there will be lots of finer details about the return. I will share these with you in late August so that the information I share with you is up to date and reflects any changes to the guidance.

Below are some indicative timings to help you plan:

Gates at the Junior School will be open for drop off from 8.45 with registration at 8.50 for Year 3 and 5 and at 9.00 for Year 4 and 6.

Pick-ups are planned as:

Year 3 and 5: 3.15

Year 4 and 6: 3.25

With the younger children at the Infant School we are planning more specific drop off and pick up times:

Year 2: drop 8.50 and pick up at 2.50

Year 1: drop off- 9.00 and pick up at 3.00

Reception: drop off- 9.00 and pick up at 3.00

Nursery: Staggered start and end times to be confirmed with parents

Within these adjusted timings teaching and learning time has not been affected as we are making adjustments to the timings within the school day.

We are having staggered start and end timings to the day to try and reduce the number of people at the school gates at any one time.

SCHOOL MEALS

Please can all children at the Junior School bring a packed lunch for the first couple of weeks. If you are eligible for Free School Meals and you would like to use this service in September, please contact the school office. When we have further information regarding meals at the Junior School we will be in touch.

At the Infant School the Universal Infant Free School Meal will be offered each day. In the first instance this will be a nutritious picnic lunch with a choice of sandwich fillings. More details will be available in August; we will share these with you when we have received them.

UNIFORM

We will be expecting all children to wear school uniform. On their PE days the children will be able to wear their PE kit all day so kits will be stored at home. If your child’s PE kit is currently at school, we will send this home with your child in September. If your child will be attending Forest School – Year 1 and Reception- they will be able to wear their forest school clothes all day too.

HOLIDAY CLUB

Hot off the Press……Little Walkers, our regular wrap around care provider, will be running a holiday club this summer based at the Infant School. This will run for 3 weeks from 10th August. This is a charged service from Little Walkers and the arrangements you make will be directly with them. They are currently putting all of their plans together regarding timings etc. If you are interested in this service, please contact them:
