Dear Parents and Carers,
Hope you are all well and enjoying the sunshine when you can. I am sure you all have lots of questions and concerns after the Government’s announcement last Sunday. Let me reassure you we are working through the guidance documents as they are arriving at school- the most recent of these arrived last night and another arrived this morning!
At our virtual Governing Body meeting yesterday evening, as well as our usual business, we discussed our current provision and began to share our plans for the future. Planning for the ‘new normal’ is a complex process and I want to be clear that the safety of the children and staff is paramount and that this comes before anything. It is also important to note that no plans will be implemented until the five tests, as set out by the Government, have been met.
Early next week we will share our initial plans for extending the number of children at school for the designated year groups and explain how this will work alongside our key worker provision and home learning offer. We hope this will provide you with some insight into what the 'new normal' may look like but also some clarity about the work that needs to be done and what the in school provision will offer.
Please remember this is a new phase; it is not a return to normal schooling for those who may attend. Following Government guidance will mean that there will be big differences in schools and the learning and play resources will be reduced dramatically particularly for the younger children. Children will not be free to play and learn in the ways that they would have done in the past because we need to protect them and the staff.
I feel blessed to be working with such a great team of staff and Governors and want to applaud them all for their hard work and support. These are challenging times and we are all working so well together.
I also want to thank all of you for your continued support and hard work. I know there are ups and downs for us all but it is important to recognise the contribution you are all making to this situation. Thank you for keeping your children and families safe, thank you for being your child’s greatest supporter and helping them to learn at home, thank you for the kind words of support you are giving to teachers when they call, thank you for the positive feedback and emails of encouragement. Each of these makes a huge difference.
Next Friday we will be making food deliveries to our known vulnerable families. They are so appreciative of this support. I would like to thank everyone who has made a donation to this worthy cause so far and ask everyone to consider if they can support us again this coming week. It is wonderful that new families are now contacting us when they are in need- we are here to help. If you or anyone else you know is in need please contact us so we can reach out.
Attached the weekly news sheets and resources from MIND. The theme this week is POSITIVITY.
I know there are lots of things for you to be thinking about and worrying about please take time this weekend to pause and breathe.
There are changes coming and change does feel scary but just think of all the changes we have coped with so far. I feel blessed to work with you all and I know we can get through this next stage together.
