Dear Parents and Carers
We were very disappointed, as we know you are, to hear about the cancellation of the plans for Year 6 transition to secondary school this year. We know that this decision was made in the interest of safety and following the government guidelines, yet it has understandably caused frustration and upset for all of us.
With the current guidelines, we have had to think carefully about our end of year plans for year 6. Our aim is to give the children as many positive experiences as possible whilst keeping the school community safe. Please know that we share many of your feelings about this whole situation, and that we genuinely are trying our best to make this last term wonderful for your children.
We would like to share with you the updates about a few of our Year 6 events.
The children have been working hard and enjoying rehearsals for our production of Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits. When we knew we would not be able to have adults in, we asked the children what they would like to do with continuing with the production. The children really wanted to carry on with the play in any way that was possible. We will be filming the production which will then be shared with parents and carers.
We are aiming to go ahead with a leavers assembly on Wednesday July 21st. This will take place on the top field and we will be able to provide more details, based on guidance, nearer to the date. This will run from 11:15 - 12:15.
During the assembly, we will be giving out the year 6 awards, citizenship certificates, sharing memories and singing to you. We had to run our leavers assembly like this last year, and it was a really special event for everyone involved.
We are planning for this to go ahead as planned. This will be on Friday 9th July. The children are very much looking forward to this day of fun and celebration. The children will be able to wear their home clothes on this day and we will also send home more information with the children about what the day will involve.
