Year 5 - Swimming safeguarding - Maple swimming spring term

As part of our swimming preparation we have to complete an annual Governor Checklist for School Swimming.

The safeguarding element of this asks that parents are made aware of the provisions with regards to changing arrangements at the swimming pool.

Please see below information from the  Intimate Care Policy followed by staff at our school:

Children are entitled to respect and privacy when changing their clothes however, there must be the required level of supervision to safeguard young people with regard to health and safety considerations and to ensure that bullying, teasing or other unacceptable behaviour does not occur.

The pool we use is organised on a village style changing basis. This supports effective and discrete supervision and privacy for our children when changing. Where a child needs additional support for changing parental permission will be sought and a personal care plan will be drawn up so as to maintain dignity but increase independence.
