Year 4 - Cookery/ Science

Dear Year 4 Parents,

As part of our new Science topic on 'Changing State' we are going to be making chocolate crispy cakes over the new few weeks to demonstrate the melting process. This practical activity is recommended in the Science National Curriculum and we are sure that the children will enjoy it!

Acer will do this on Thursday 11th and Palm will do this the following week on Thursday 18th to give us enough time for all the children to get involved.

We wanted to let you know the ingredients that we will be using in case there are any allergies that we are not aware of. If you know that your child has an allergy, we would like you to check these ingredients to ensure that you are happy with them. The links below list allergy information. Please let us know if there are any problems with any of the following ingredients:

Recipe (makes 12) - obviously we will scale this up!)

60g/ 2 oz unsalted butter

If all goes to plan, the children, may even be able to bring one or two home to eat so we would appreciate it if you could send your child into school on their cooking day with a named tupperware /box with lid to help the cakes travel home safely!

Please let us know if you have any questions regarding this.

Kind regards
