Year 3 Trip to Paccar Friday 16th July- Final Details

Dear Parents / Carers

We are really looking forward to the trip to PACCAR tomorrow. The trip details are summarised below:

Where:  PACCAR Scout Camp, Denham Lane, Chalfont St Peter, SL9 0QJ.

Directions: Postcode for Satnavs is SL9 0QH. Approaching Chalfont St Peter on the A413 from Amersham turn left up Joiners Lane (at the Greyhound Roundabout). Turn right at the T Junction onto Denham Lane. The entrance to PACCAR Scout Camp is on the right (just past Winkers Farm Country Club). Further directions are available on the PACCAR website https://paccarscoutcamp.org/contact-us/

What to wear: Children should dress in weather appropriate, comfortable clothing suitable for being active outside all day. We would recommend that they wear comfortable footwear such as trainers.

The forecast is for warm sunshine tomorrow, with a high pollen count. so everyone will need sunhats and to have applied sun cream at home.

The children will be wearing harnesses for some of the activities so please ensure that shorts (if they are worn) are not too short as the harness will rub.

Please can long hair be tied back - again so it doesn't get tangled in ropes and harnesses

What to take: Children will need a water bottle for the day; a low waste packed lunch to include a drink; a morning snack and an afternoon snack - nothing too sticky please (and no fizzy drinks). All items that the children take should be clearly labelled and preferably in a rucksack or day bag.

Drop off: Children should be dropped at the main entrance to PACCAR between 09:00 and 09.15

Pick Up: Children should be collected from the same place at 15:40

At PACCAR the children will all have the opportunity to take part in 3 out of 5 activities.  These will be assigned at random to each group.  Due to time and health and safety restrictions it is impossible for all 60 children to do exactly the same activities.  Each child will have the chance to do at least one activity on the ground and at least one activity in the air.  This way, everyone should be able to have a go at something and hopefully challenge themselves too.

The 5 activities are: AbseilingNightline (team building)Crate stackingZip wireCircus skills

illness on the day: If your child feels unwell in the morning or shows any Covid symptoms please can we ask that you inform the school office and keep your child at home. I am sure you will agree that it is very exciting to be able to go on a trip this year and we do not wish to spread any illnesses at this stage of the term

Best wishes

Year 3 Team
