Year 3 - Stone Age Activity Day at Shortenills

Dear Parent/Carer,

Year 3 Visit to Shortenills – Tuesday 27th February 2018 – 08:35 to 15: 45 (Activity Timing 09:00 to 15:30)

As part of our History topic on the Stone Age we would like to invite all of the children in Year 3 to visit Shortenills Environment Centre on Tuesday 27th February {corrected date} to take part in their Stone Age activity day.

The entrance to Shortenills Centre is just off Nightingales Lane and we are asking for children to be dropped off at Shortenills by parents and to be collected from Shortenills by parents at the end of the activity day. The address is Shortenills Environmental Centre, Nightingales Lane, Chalfont StGiles, Bucks, HP8 4SG

Mrs Court, Mrs Coleman, Mrs March and Mrs Salmon will be at Shortenills Centre (car park meeting point) and children should be dropped off between 08:35 and 08:50 ready to be registered at 08:50 for a 09:00 start to the day’s activities.

The children should be collected from the same point at Shortenills between 15:00 -15:30. We would highly recommend sharing of lifts with other parents in Year 3 as the entrance and car park are very small; organising lifts is not something that the School Office is able to help with.

The children need to be in school uniform.  As we will be outside all day we would recommend that they wear comfortable footwear such as trainers or wellingtons and a warm waterproof coat. Depending on how cold the weather is then they may also need gloves, a hat and a scarf. Children will need a water bottle for the day; a packed lunch (which should be in a disposable bag and to include a drink); a morning snack and an afternoon snack - nothing sticky please and no fizzy drinks. Please can items that the children take be clearly labelled.

We would like 3 or 4 parents to accompany us on the visit if possible.  If you are able to help on this trip and have a DBS check valid for the Junior School, please can you contact the School Office, either by phone or by email. We shall contact you to let you know if you will be needed or not but please note that it is school policy that you will not be responsible for the group of children that your child is in.

To cover the costs of this trip will are asking for a voluntary contribution from parents of £9.00 per child.  This contribution is to cover the cost of the Stone Age activity day at Shortenills plus ParentPay costs. This is a voluntary contribution but if we do not receive sufficient funds to cover costs then the trip will not be able to go ahead.

We shall set this visit up on the ParentPay system and we would like you to use this payment method if possible.  However, if you would prefer to pay by cash or cheque you are welcome to do so (cheques to be made payable to Chalfont St Giles Junior School) and payment to be sent in an envelope with child’s name and class written clearly on it.

Please can payment be sent into school, and reply slips be returned by Wednesday 7th February either as paper copy or by filling in the online version of the consent form using this Google Forms link https://goo.gl/forms/SrCHvL3OtEQrh4US2

A PDF version of this letter and consent form are on the school website here.

Yours faithfully

Mrs Court, Mrs Coleman & Mrs March
