Year 3 - PACCAR visit - Wednesday 15th June 2022 - update

Dear Year 3 Parents / Carers
We are very pleased that Year 3 will have the opportunity to visit the PACCAR Scout Activity Centre in Chalfont St Peter on Wednesday 15th June.
Thank you to those parents who have made additional donations for this day trip. Your generosity is much appreciated. There is still a shortfall of £42 for the day but we can confirm that the trip will go ahead as planned.
We have had a few questions from parents about this trip so just to clarify a few points:-

  • The school receives no additional funding from the PTA for any of our day trips or residential visits. If we do not receive sufficient donations from parents to cover the costs then the school has to absorb any shortfall from its own budget share. As school budgets are incredibly tight there may be occasions where it is not possible for these events to go ahead and we will always seek to make these decisions on a case by case basis.
  • We look very carefully at trip costs and try to explain what parents' donations will cover in any information letters - in this case the costs are what PACCAR will charge us plus a small handling fee that ParentMail charges us for transactions. The school will never seek to make a profit from school trips and it is in breach of government policy to do so.
  • We have to commit to these trips and make payment a month in advance, so sometimes we have to make payments for children who are not able to attend for various reasons. If your child is absent at the last minute we still have to pay for the numbers that we booked the trip for, in line with the relevant providers' terms and conditions. We understand that illness cannot be planned for, but if you are choosing to request a leave of absence we do ask that you complete the forms with not less than one months notice so we can plan for this.

We hope that the children have a lovely day on Wednesday.
It is forecast to be sunny with a high UV and high pollen count so please apply sun cream before dropping children off, make sure any who suffer from hay fever have taken their medication and pack a sun hat and named water bottle, along with their low waste snacks and packed lunches in rucksacks.
Children should dress in weather appropriate, comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for being active outside all day (i.e. uniform does not need to be worn). They will be using harnesses for some of the activities so please no very short shorts!
