Infant - World Book Day, Reading Superstars and Mathseeds Champions

Dear Parents and carers
World Book Day is fast approaching and I thought I would give you an idea of what will be happening. World Book Day itself is Thursday 4th March but we will be building up to the day with lots of book related activities. This week in our small group sessions the children will be thinking about their favourite books, stories or genres and coming up with an idea for an independent project. This might be a picture of their favourite character from their favourite book or a Lego model. It really is up to them and will hopefully lead to some discussion about reading and books at home. In the small group sessions next week they can show these to the rest of their group. When your child returns to school they can collect their book token which is valid until Sunday 28th March, look out for the video where I explain which books you can swap it for and which shops are participating. Reading Eggs are running a Story Factory competition on their site from 26th February to 4th March, you need to include WBD in your story title and have it submitted by 10pm on Thursday 4th March. The winner wins £500 of Reading Egg licenses for their school.
Next week's Literacy lessons will be looking at some of the authors and illustrators involved with World Book Day. Then on World Book Day itself your child can dress up for registration and choose which storytelling sessions they would like to attend. The timetable for live storytelling sessions with the adults from your year group will be revealed in next week's planning.
