Weekly email - Friday 5th March - with Junior School Diary Dates

Dear Parents and Carers,

The classrooms are ready and so are we. We are very pleased to be welcoming the children back.

This next step is significant and we want to ensure that we all keep healthy and well. We will be working very hard to keep year group bubbles separate from each other so that if there is a need to close a group, we hope other year groups will not be affected. We are asking for your support with this and request that you follow all procedures as set out in the letters and information we have already shared.

Please ensure you keep the hands, face, space rules and keep two metres apart during drop off and pick up each day. Please remember that all three gates to the Junior site are open and you are welcome to use any of them. If you are unable to socially distance at one of the gates, please plan to use a different gate.

Please avoid areas beyond school where children from a range of bubbles can mix as this increases the chance of transmission. I want us all to feel confident coming into the classrooms and I know parents want their children and families to be safe. I want all of my staff to be safe too. The overwhelming majority of them are not vaccinated and although this should happen soon, for a good number of them, the impact of the vaccination can take up to three weeks to take effect.

As the leader of the school I want to be able to reassure everyone during this change to another new normal and so I need us all to take every precaution we can to reduce transmission. I look forward to your support.

All staff will be wearing a face mask or visor and we encourage parents to do the same. If you need to approach a member of staff, please wear a face covering.

Please make sure that your child minders are aware of all of the information shared with you so that they can keep the same rules too.

Just a reminder that the ventilation of the classrooms is still an important part of mitigating the risk of being in the classrooms together. If the weather is cold, ensure your child has an extra layer under their uniform so that they are warm enough.

We have been asked to share this message below about how you can access lateral flow testing.

Undertaking regular, rapid coronavirus (COVID-19) testing helps reduce transmission of the virus. Parents and other adults in households with children at school or college, who do not have symptoms, can now access regular, rapid coronavirus (COVID-19) testing. This includes childcare and support bubbles.

Tests are fast, easy and completely free. There are different ways for a household, childcare or support bubble to collect their test to take at home, twice-weekly:

  • through your employer, if they offer testing to employees
  • by collecting a home test kit from a local test site – anyone aged 18 or over can collect 2 packs of 7 tests
  • by ordering a home test kit online – please do not order online if you can access testing through other routes, this frees up home delivery for those who need it most
If you have any queries about the tests, and you live in England, please call 119 (free from mobiles and landlines). Lines are open every day from 7am to 11pm.

Children of primary school age (and below) without symptoms are not being asked to take a test.
If you think that your child might be eligible for Free School Meals and you would like us to run a confidential check please complete a copy of the Free School Meals application form and send it in to the school office. Please contact us if you need a printed version of the form.

Our focus at school will be on the children’s wellbeing. We have lots of direct teaching and learning planned to help and encourage the children to explore their feelings and be confident, happy learners. We know that happy children are successful so focusing on them in this way will mean that they are more able to learn as they feel safe and loved.

We have a very positive message for the children. We will be telling them

You can do it

We’ll help you

We believe in you

We’ll do it together
