School Update - 2nd November 2020

Dear Parents/Carers

We hope you have all had a happy and restful half term.

With the announcement from the Prime Minister regarding the new stringent measures, which take effect from 5 November, we expect to receive additional guidance from the Department for Education. Once we have received the guidance we will update you again on the measures we are taking to keep our Village School safe.

In order to keep all of our community members safe, we would like to remind you that social distancing whilst dropping off and collecting your children is important. Please make sure you arrive at the school at the times allocated to your year group at the beginning of term. A number of parents have expressed anxieties or concerns around pick up so please be considerate of how others may be feeling.

Please follow the directions, maintain adequate distance between yourselves and other parents and leave the premises promptly.

Under no circumstances should any parent be entering the school. Should you require help from the school office please call from outside the building and a member of the team will assist you.

Current advice is to keep rooms as well ventilated as possible. Whilst the heating will be on to warm the building, the need for constant ventilation of classrooms means that the effectiveness of the heating system throughout the day is compromised. As the weather becomes increasingly colder we are aware that it would be safer and more practical if children were able to wear more clothes to school.

In the first instance, please ensure that all children have their school uniform top layer of jumper or cardigan available in school at all times. If your child is particularly susceptible to cold weather then a base layer of thermals, vest, or t- shirt may be suitable. As always, please ensure that all clothing items are clearly named.

At this current time, we do not have the staffing capacity to reintroduce the hot school meal service. This is something we are reviewing continuously with our hub kitchen and we will keep you updated.

I would like to reassure you that all of our measures in place are carried out with the priority of the safety of our pupils and staff, and to be able to provide the children with as normal education as is possible under the circumstances.

We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow
