Juniors Weekly email (sent Friday 28th Sep)

Dear all

We hope that the Year 3 children enjoyed their Egyptian day on Monday - their costumes looked fantastic (see the blog post here). Year 5 and Year 6 children took part in an interactive session looking at safety around construction sites on Tuesday. Our football team played in a tournament on Tuesday - they played well together and drew several of their matches - despite not having had any training sessions together at that point.

Thank you to everyone who supported our Macmillan Coffee morning today and thank you to all of our volunteer helpers who attended the Child Protection training today. This CP training needs to be refreshed annually for all members of staff and volunteers alike.

Menu swap - on Thursday 4th October our hub kitchen are offering an "American Day menu" Hot Dogs (Pork Sausage) or Vegetarian Hot Dogs; Beans; Salad; Muffins. Allergen information is available on the website here.

Governor News - Following the request for nominations for parent governors, I am pleased to say that Nicola Brown (year 1 parent) has volunteered for one of the roles.  As we have only had one nominee, she has been elected unopposed.  We still have a vacancy, so if anyone else is interested in joining us, we would be happy to hear from you, any appointment would now be done by interview rather than election. Donna Westall, Chair of Governors

ClassList - From this point forward your class parent and PTA should ONLY be communicating with you via the ClassList website and application. If you have not already joined then please do so by downloading the ClassList App and requesting to join our school groups.

Zebra crossing on Deanway - BCC have said that work will be done on Monday to replace the markings on the zebra crossing. BCC are still advertising for a school crossing patroller for this crossing and details are on the BCC website here.

Free School Meals and Pupil Premium - if you think that your child may be entitled to Free School Meals at the Junior School please complete and return a copy of the FSM application form available here on the website.

Cub and Scout Camps - we are aware that some children are off to camp this weekend and they have been told that they can have until Tuesday morning to hand in their homework.

Year 4 -  Year 4 are getting ready for their residential trip next week - hopefully the weather will hold but the children will need plenty of warm layers and waterproof boots as they will be outside during the days on their trip to Woodrow

Year 6 - Greek day will go ahead as planned next week. Many thanks to the parents who have volunteered to assist on the day and a huge thank you to the parents who offered to donate additional sums to enable the day to go ahead. We will contact you after the event to let you know if we need to accept these offers.

Year 6 - message from school nursing team:  Dear Parents and Carers, You will have recently received a communication from School Nursing regarding the upcoming Healthy Child Assessment screening programme for children in Yr R and Yr 6 ONLY. We wanted to make sure that you have the correct email address so you can opt  your children out if necessary. The email address is bht.schoolhealth-screening@nhs.net  We have been notified there have been some issues with the hyperlink on the original form sent out. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Many thanks, Buckinghamshire School Nursing Service, School Nurse website: www.buckshealthcare.nhs.uk/school-nursing
