Juniors - Weekly email - Friday 16th May

Dear Parents / Carers,

Well done to Year 6 for all of their hard work this week with SATS and Mini Enterprise. Hopefully the Dragons were kind this afternoon and you all have your funding in place to start making your products for sale next week.

Manners Matter Week - Next week will be our 'Manners Matter' week, where all staff will be on the lookout for children who are showing excellent manners, kindness and respect. When staff see these behaviours (such as holding doors open, stopping to let others through, saying good morning, please and thank you and many more!) they will give them a Catch Me card. These cards will go into the class pot, and at the end of the week there will be rewards for the classes. Do ask your children if they have received any catch me cards next week!

Family Day on Friday 23rd May.- we are looking forward to welcoming adult family members into school on Friday morning. There will be activity sessions in class and the PTA will be running a cafe in the Main Hall.. Please note that we are asking you to sign up for a slot on ParentMail - either from 9:30am to 10:30am or 10:30am to 11:30am. More details in the letter here

Sponsored Walk on Friday 23rd May - children are welcome to walk in fancy dress, PE kit or their favourite club / sports kit (rugby, football etc). We are planning to raise funds for a range of school needs this year, for music, computing, history, geography and also for the library. With your kind support we aim to purchase resources such as dataloggers, timelines and new bookshelves for part of the library in order to enhance our children’s education. Children may come to school in their costumes but please do ensure that they are suitably dressed for the weather whilst walking and have good walking shoes with socks. They will also need to be able to take part in normal classes and activities during the morning. They may add a few extra items for the walk in the afternoon though. Tally sheets will be sent home after half term and donations may be paid on ParentMail. You can add GiftAid to this donation as well. Look for Sponsored Walk4School 2025 on ParentMail

School meals - we are having an increasing number of children who are not happy with the meal selections that have been made for them - i.e. wanting sausage roll rather than jacket potato or mac'n'cheese rather than chicken. Please can you go through the menu choices with your child before ordering? We do try to accommodate their preferences on the day but this is not always possible.

We would also ask that you remember to book meals in advance - we have had quite a few children recently taking a school meal that has not been ordered. We know that this is not deliberate but please check that your child has a school meal ordered or has a packed lunch each day

Change of menu for Wednesday 23rd July (Last day of summer term) - St Joseph's Hub Kitchen has amended the menu for the last day of term. Thre will be a choice of filled bread rolls - Ham, Cheese or Tuna Roll and either Oreo Cookie Bar or Yogurt. Please order in advance as usual but there will be no option to change orders on the day.

Our School Amazon Wish List - link to the Junior School gift list can be found here https://amzn.eu/fVdAqFF. We have added a few DT items recently.
