Junior - Weekly email (sent on 1st March)

Dear all

Congratulations and best wishes to Mr Cato and his wife who have had a baby girl during half term week.

We have had a lovely Arts Week - children have been learning about and making various musical instruments this week - thank you to everyone who donated items. On Tuesday we were visited by Dr Challoners High School for a dance demo - several groups performed their interpretations of dances to music from The Greatest Showman. This afternoon we have been visited by musicians from The Misbourne School for a whole school concert in the Memorial Hall. We have launched our Music and Arts Show this week and applications for auditions slots have been coming in to the office. Thank you to Mrs Burge for organising our Arts Week this year.

Art Competition - our Year 5 and Year 6 children recently entered the annual Young Arts Painting Competition organised by The Arts Society Chiltern - further details on their website.  We are delighted to announce that Alex in Year 6 and Falon, Kai and Lola in Year 5 have been selected for the finals of this years competition and they, and their families, will be invited to attend the award ceremony in Chalfont St Peter later in the month.

Rotary IT Competition - the homework for some year groups this week is to design a poster to enter for the The Louis Moss Graphic Design Challenge 2019 organised by the Rotary Club of Misbourne Matins. The poster design requirements vary for each year group and the theme this year is for posters which depict and reflect what students consider are the most important aspects of  “Minimising Plastic Pollution." Many of the local primary schools take part in this ICT design challenge and our pupils have always done really well in recent years.

Momo Challenge - there has been a lot of discussion of the MoMo Challenge in the media in recent weeks. This has been exposed as a hoax - see news item here - but please do talk with your children about internet safety and be aware of what sites they are using and how they can stay safe online. Our E-safety for parents website page gives further guidance.

Year 4 - Next Thursday 7th is World Book Day and children are allowed to come to school dressed as a book character. On Friday 8th Year 4 have an Anglo Saxon Workshop Day and the children may come in wearing an Anglo Saxon costume. This will be set as the learning log for this week so the children have some time to think about it. If its going to be a bit much dressing up on both days, then the children are welcome to come in dressed up for one day but not the other. Likewise if any children don't want to dress up for either day, they are under no obligation to do that either.

Year 5 - PGL residential - thank you to everyone who has made payments towards this trip - a quick reminder that the due date for final payment is 29th March.
