Junior Weekly email - sent Friday 7th February

Dear all

The fog on Wednesday did not deter our intrepid cross country runners who represented us at the Bucks School County Cross Country Championships at Stowe - well done to all of the team who completed this tough course and thank you to parents for taking and supporting the children. Congratulations to Olivia and Sammy who will be representing Bucks at the Nationals in March.

Year 6 had a fascinating day at Brooklands Museum on Wednesday - the highlights were sitting in a Formula 1 Car, going inside a private jet and Concorde. Thank you to Year 6 staff for organising the visit to the transport museum.

CSG Community Library - thank you to Mrs Hoare for visiting us on Tuesday to talk to the children about the village library. The library has kindly given every child a bookmark. They also asked the children which books they would recommend for children of their age. Some of these suggestions will be purchased and will be available to borrow from the library.

Playground equipment - a very special thank you to Mr Palomo who very generously donated some funds to buy some new toys and play equipment for the playground. The first batch of these went out onto the playground this week and there has been a real buzz of excitement when the children have been using this equipment.

Accident-Free in CSG - thank you to those who do park away from Parsonage Road and not obstructing driveways in Hillside Close and Lagger Close. Mrs Peal met with the JRSOs this week (Junior Road Safety Officers) and they are planning a competition for the children plus some new WOW (Walk on Wednesday) ideas.

Menu for Spring HT2 - the menu for the next half term has just been added to the website here. This menu includes some of the options that our School Council discussed with Chef Paul - minutes of the meeting are here. Allergen sheets are also available on the School Meals page of the website.

E-Safety Day - as part of work linked to E-Safety Day all of the Junior School children had a special assembly this morning. We have added a Help Sheet for Parents to the website here. This gives details of Play Like Share which is a series of three animated films for 8-10 year olds about staying safe online, produced by Thinkuknow, the National Crime Agency's CEOP Command's online safety education programme.

Arts Week helpers - during the afternoons next week the children will be using a variety of different craft skills in class - screen printing, sewing, batik and tie dyeing. A few classes have asked for extra adult helpers to come in and any reader helpers who are scheduled to come in to school may be asked to help with the art activities.

Sports Partnership Tennis Club - details can be found here for a club that the Sports Partnership are running for children from Reception to Year 6

Bikeability training - this will be held during the Easter holidays (14th & 15th April) and there are still a couple of places available for children in year 5 or Year 6 - letter and details here

Year 4 Neasden Temple Trip on Monday - to clarify on the dress code - our understanding is that shorts or skirts must be well below knee length so, to avoid any issues when they get to the temple, we are asking that children wear uniform tops with their PE joggers or a pair of plain joggers if they do not have school trousers.

Year 5 - Churches trip - on Thursday 27th February Year 5 will be walking to Chalfont St Peter to visit two churches there and they are looking for a few parent helpers. If you have a valid school DBS and can help for the day please contact your class parent or the school office. Thank you.
