Dear Parents and Carers,
It is so lovely to have your children back at school, the staff have thoroughly enjoyed their time with your children. I have visited all classes this morning and it was great to see everyone ready for learning and with big smiles on their faces! Your children are amazing and have dealt with the new normal so well- they are a credit to you. I would also like to recognise the hard work and determination of all staff who have worked so hard to make sure that the school is ready, the classrooms are welcoming and that the children can settle as quickly as possible and begin to establish their new routines - not a simple task!
There is obviously going to be a period of time where we need to observe how things are going and then if required adjust our plans. Thank you for your understanding and support during this time.
Reading books - Today children (except nursery and reception) will bring a reading book home. Please bear with us if the book your child chooses is not in the correct colour band as we will not be able to review all of the children’s reading levels by this point. We will review colour bands over the coming weeks and ensure that your child selects from this band.
Our book changing procedures are as follows:
Children will select books from their bubbles stock which will be stored in the bubble classrooms.
When the child returns a book it will be put into the returns box.
A member of staff will wipe down the plastic cover of the book and once dry the book will go back into circulation.
There will be no set day for book changing, children can bring in the books in their book bags/ school bags and change them each morning in the classrooms.
Although guidance says we should limit items going to and from home we are allowing reading books home so we can all encourage reading and promote progress.
Reading records will not be sent home today. Please look out for further information about these in the coming weeks.
Nursery and Reception - Early Years staff will begin sending books home with your child after the settling in period.
Accident Free in CSG - Thank you to all of the parents who are walking into school each day and avoiding the no parking zones around both schools. The parking permits for the Blizzards Yard (Coop) car park will be sent out next week. Please don’t forget to make use of the carpark at the Bowstridge Lane playing field.
Online Games - We have been speaking with the children about the activities they took part in over the summer. A number of children played games online. Fortnite and Grand Theft Auto were two of the games played. Please can we take this opportunity to remind you that these games are for those aged 12 and 18 respectively and are therefore highly inappropriate for infant school aged children to play.
