Junior - Weekly email - sent Friday 3rd May

Dear All

Everyone seems to be well settled into the new term after another busy week in school: Year 5 were lucky with the weather for their hike on Wednesday and everyone seems to have had a great day - thank you to all of the adults who walked with the groups and to Year 5 staff for organising this event. The last two football matches of the season were played last week with both our U10s and U11s teams in action at St Josephs and Iver schools. Trixie, our new Pets as Therapy Reading Dog, has started reading with children on Tuesdays. Some of the year 5 girls held a cake sale for the Dog's Trust after school today which seemed to be very popular - well done to them for organising this sale.

We raised £240 for Macmillan Cancer Support with our pyjama day last Friday - thank you to everyone who donated towards this charity collection.

Jane Penson visited to talk to us about Book Aid International and their Pioneer Book Box scheme - further details can be found on their flyer here.

Year 3 - The summer term guide for Year 3 is now available on the class webpage here

Year 3 - if anyone else with a school DBS would like to help Year 3 on their trip to the village next Friday afternoon please can they contact the Year 3 teachers or the school office by Tuesday morning.

Year 5 - The presentation for the PGL trip is on the Year 5 class webpage here.

Year 6 - The summer term guide for Year 6 is now available on the class webpage here

Year 6 - National Child Measurement Programme team would like to thank you for your cooperation and support with the National Child Measurement Programme (heights and weights). For those pupils that were absent when they attended to carry out the NCMP session, we will be arranging another visit.

Year 6 - First Aid training will take place in the school hall next week and normal uniform to be worn. Thank you to those of you who have made a donation towards this training. If you have not yet made a donation and are able to send in £4 please can you do so by 9:30am on Tuesday as we do not currently have sufficient funding to make this activity viable.

Spellings homework - we are currently reviewing the spellings software that we use in school. Whilst this review is underway children will receive their spellings as paper copies.

Crisp packet recycling - we are almost ready to send off our first batch of crisp packets for recycling. Thank you to everyone who has been donating  - please continue to bring in empty crisp packets to the collection bin in the dining hall. The company will take any brand of crisp packet including crisp multipack outer packaging. We will earn points from this recycling that we can donate to the CSGVS Trust Fund charity.
