Junior - Weekly email (sent Friday 28th February)

Dear All

We hope that everyone enjoyed the half term break.

Our football team played against Chalfont St Peter Academy on Wednesday. They lost 3-0 but Mr Holmes was encouraged by the commitment and development that they are showing as a team.

Sadly the Year 5 walk to Chalfont St Peter due to be held on Thursday was postponed due to the poor weather but this visit is rescheduled for Thursday 12th March when we hope there will be better weather.

The Big Sunflower Project - this project aims to raise awareness of the rare neuromuscular conditions centronuclear and myotubular myopathy by growing sunflowers. 2020 is the tenth year of the project. The sunflower was chosen for its cheery and positive outlook, as if they are on a mission to touch the sky and nothing can hold them back!

We are supporting this project and will be planting our sunflower seeds and running a class competition to see which class sunflower grows the tallest during the Spring and Summer term. The sunflowers will begin to grow in small pots and will then be planted outside of the classrooms. We will keep you updated with how they get on! More details of this charity and the progress of our sunflowers will be available on the website page here

Rugby - a huge thank you to Mr Gibson who kindly donated a set of soft rugby balls. Some of the Year 6 children have been using these to run indoor rugby sessions during Enrichment Time on Fridays. There is a rota so each class has several sessions to develop their rugby skills.

Accident Free in CSG - thank you to those who park away from Parsonage Road and not obstructing driveways in Hillside Close and Lagger Close.

Recent letters sent home - there is a lot going on in the next few weeks. Recent letters about Dads to SchoolMusic and Arts Evening auditions, termly Super Science ChallengeParents Evening bookings, a TradeCraft Sale and Walk on Wednesdays letters, to name just a few, have been sent home - copies of all letters sent out from school can be found on the Junior School's Letters 2019-20 page of the website (https://www.csgvillageschool.org/junior-school-letters-2019-20/

Emails - a few parents have been in touch to say that they have not received all of the emails sent out by the Junior Office or that recent emails have been going into Spam folders. We know that there is an intermittent issue with BTInternet.com emails bouncing back as spam and when this happens we resend these emails (though there may be a delay in them being sent out). There also seems to be an issue with hotmail.com and hotmail.co.uk emails going to spam. We do ask that you add JuniorOffice@csgvillageschool.org to your contacts list, or mark the @csgvillageschool.org emails as being from a Safe Sender. We always add letters to the Letters area on the website, see previous paragraph, and important emails are added to the Latest News section as a back up. We also try to ensure that links to letters are added in the future dates section of the weekly emails.

Bikeability training - this will be held during the Easter holidays (14th & 15th April) and there are still a couple of places available for children in year 5 or Year 6 - letter and details here
