Junior - Weekly Email (sent Friday 19th July)

Year 6 Show - Wow! Well done everyone for a fabulous evening,

 

Class Gardens - Mrs Coleman has added some photos of the gardens on the Blog here

 

Crisp Packet recycling - thank you to everyone who has helped with our crisp recycling. We have now finished collecting for this year.

 

 

Year 6 - Monday 22nd July - new date for Year 6 Fun Day activities on site including a bouncy castle and water games. All children should wear comfortable clothes and be prepared for warm weather, please bring in something appropriate to get wet in, a towel and a change of clothes. Lunch will be included as part of their Bouncy Day, however, if your child is a fussy eater please send in a packed lunch.

 

Wednesday 24th July - Menu Change - Pork sausages or vegetarian sausages in buns with ketchup or Jacket potato with cheese with Muffins. Allergen details on website here

 

Year 6 - Wednesday 24th - Leavers Day timings:

 

  • 09:15 – 10:00    Awards Assembly (all Year 6 parents are invited)

  • 10:15 – 11:00    Break and tea/coffee (all Year 6 parents are invited)

  • 11:00 – 12:15    Leavers Assembly (all Year 6 parents are invited but please note that due to restricted numbers allowed in the hall, no siblings should attend)

  • 12:30 Parents leave site and all children eat their packed lunches together – hopefully outside as a picnic, weather dependent.  (All Year 6 to have a packed lunch).

  • 13:30 – 14:15    Children in class with class teachers

 

Class Parent Reps - many thanks to our group of parents who have helped this year by acting as a link between class teachers and parents. If you are interested in taking on this role next year please can you let your September class teacher now or let the office know or talk to your current class rep.

 

Lost property - we have a large amount of lost property in the room just off the Main Hall. Any items still in the lost property box at the end of term will be disposed off - either to charity shops, spare uniform or bin as appropriate. If you are missing any items please do check 

Medicines - any pupil medicines held in school will be sent home via children at the end of term (Wednesday 24th July). Please advise the school office by the end of Tuesday if you would prefer that an adult collects these from the office at the end of  the day on Wednesday. 

 

Talent Show - apologies that the whole school talent show was cancelled. This is usually run in a very informal way within school but had to be cancelled this year.   

 

No volunteer readers in school this next week please

  • Drum lessons with MD Drumlab in the IT Meeting Room - 13:00 to 15:30 

 

Tuesday 23rd July

  • Second Hand Uniform sale in the Dining Hall 8.45am-9.15am

  • Breakfast Club in the ATA Room with Mrs Rock and Mr Shankland - 08:00 to 08:45 (Invited pupils only)

  • Maths Club in the IT Suite with Mrs Crosbie - 08:15 to 08:45 (Invited pupils only)

  • Drum lessons with MD Drumlab in the IT Meeting Room - 12:30 to 15:30

New Year 3 in September - we are looking forward to your children joining our school in September. There are two letters so far for September, the Egyptian Day letter (please start thinking about possible costumes for this event) and a Pebble Request letter - this can be found on the school website here Copies of all letters sent home are added to the letters page of the Website.. Copies of the weekly emails sent home on Fridays are added to the Latest News page.

 

If you wish to keep up to date with calendar entries then you can synch the website calender to your own online calendar here or download TheSchoolApp.

 

As a school we use Classlist for parents to communicate with other parents, class parent reps and the PTA. If you do not already use Classlist as an Infant School parent then an invitation link will be sent out to you in September. Please take a moment to read the guidlines on appropriate use of Classlist.

 

Friday 6th September - PTA Summer BBQ rescheduled event - 4:30pm to 7:30pm. Zorb bookings will be honoured so please hold onto your tickets. If your child is not able to make their zorb slot please can you contact the PTA via Classlist to discuss this. This event is for children, and their families, who currently attend the Junior School (Year 3 to Year 6 in July 2019) plus new Year 3s (September intake).

 

Monday 9th September - Year 6 Careers Week - Year 6 parents are invited to visit to present a session during the week to talk about their careers. Please contact Year 6 teachers or contact us via the School Office if you would like to take part.

 

Community events - CSG Village Show will take place on Saturday 7th September - click here for details of the parade and the talent show. Show schedules are available at the School Office. Full details can be found at www.csgshow.org      

 

Children will be given the opportunity to work on entries for the village show during school time. These entries can then be submitted by children or parents to the show committee. Details of these categories and copies of the entry form are on the website here.  You can also enter online via the CSG Show website - http://www.csgshow.org/competitions/default.asp 

 

Colouring competition entries can be completed at home and either returned to the School Office by the end of term or handed in at Chalfont St Giles Library by 31st August. Year 3 and Year 4 have been given paper copies to take home or a printable version is on the website here.

 

The Village Library Summer Reading Challenge is being held again this year - details are  available here

Chalfont St Giles Bowling Club - Junior Section Saturday morning sessions - details on website here Thank you to the Bowling Club for running these sessions for our children.
