Junior - Weekly email - sent Friday 18th September

Dear All

This week has flown by and the children have risen to the challenge of following and embedding the routines of the new school year. A huge well done to them and all of the staff for enabling them to settle so quickly.

Google Classrooms - Today your child will bring home their login and password for Google Classrooms. Below is a link to a simple video to explain how to access the classroom.

On Tuesday 22nd September staff will send a message/question via the system. This message/ question will require your child to respond. Please ensure that a response has been sent by Thursday 24th September. Chalfont St Giles Village School is taking part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning!     Friday 25th September 2020

In these complex times charity needs supporting more than ever and this is a cause that is very close to ALL our hearts in the Village School family.

Children will be provided with a drink, cake and a lovely time within their bubble! All we ask in return is that you make a donation to this worthy cause.

Due to the current restrictions, we ask that donations preferably be made online, directly to Macmillan using our fundraising page here

Alternatively, there will be clearly labelled buckets available in all the school playgrounds where you may drop off your donations which we will then handle in a ‘covid friendly’ way!

Dogs on the school run - Some children do not like dogs and are worried by having to be close to them along paths and walk ways. If at all possible, please leave your dog at home and if they are with you on the walk to school please be considerate of others. Dogs are not allowed onto the school site.

Accident Free in CSG -

Junior School - Thank you to those who have been parking at the playing fields and thoughtfully on Bowstridge Lane.

You should have all received a car pass for Blizzards Yard Car Park (behind the Coop) by now, but if you haven’t; please contact the school office.

Infant School - If you could all park in Blizzards Yard car park (behind the Coop). You should have received a free car pass, but if you haven’t; please contact the school office.

There is also parking available in the village, rather than drive up School Lane or park on Silver Hill.

Please do not park in the Memorial Car Park, the slope on the Memorial Car Park or across Crossing Corner. This should be kept clear at all times so your children can cross safely.

Public Health England launches Every Mind Matters campaign

Public Health England have asked us to share the following information with you.

Most families have experienced upheaval in their daily lives during the pandemic. With children and young people now back at school or college, the new Public Health England (PHE) Better Health – Every Mind Matters campaign provides NHS-endorsed tips and advice to help children and young people’s mental wellbeing, and equip parents and carers with the knowledge to support them.

The new advice available on the Every Mind Matters website has been developed in partnership with leading children and young people’s mental health charities, including Young MindsThe MixPlace2Be and The Anna Freud Centre. It is designed to help parents and carers spot the signs that children may be struggling with their mental health and support them, and also provides advice that can help maintain good mental wellbeing. The site also provides tools to help young people build resilience and equips them to look after their mental wellbeing

I hope you have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine again.

Love Mrs Peal
