Junior - Weekly email (sent Friday 13th February)

Dear all

We have had a lovely Music and Arts week with children working hard at learning different skills in class. Year 5 and 6 have all submitted paintings for the Arts Society Chiltern's Young Art Competition. We had music workshops on Monday and children who had taken part shared their performances on Monday afternoon with Year 4 when they returned from their trip.

CCC Dance Group children brought their show to us on Wednesday morning - there were quite a few familiar faces amongst the dancers. Thank you to Mrs Yalden for bringing the dance team along for us to see this energetic performance.

We hope that Year 4 enjoyed their visit to Neasden Temple on Monday - thank you to Miss Balaam for organising this and to Mrs Ballard and Mr Unadkat for their help with the visit.

BBC Radio 2 500 Words Competition - all of the children have been doing some amazing writing for the 500 Words competition. The school has selected a few entries from each class to submit but this competition is open to anyone to enter. If your child would like to submit their entry please can you help them. The 500 Words webpage has all of the entry details that you need. Good luck to everyone.

Staff News - we are very pleased to announce that Mrs March, our wonderful Special Educational Needs Co Ordinator, has just been awarded the National Award for Sen Coordination. She has worked very hard over the past year and we are so proud that she has achieved this qualification. I know you will join me in congratulating her. As with the rest of the team she really does deserve a half term break

Year 6 helpers and mentors - we would just like to take a moment to thank the Year 6 children for all of the time and energy that they give to support us across the whole school. They all take it is turns to take on a role each term - helping in the dining hall, tidying reading books, delivering registers, tidying sheds, turning on PCs in the IT Suite and working the computer for assemblies and Wake and Shake sessions. They also volunteer to be mentors and we have Playground Buddies, Reading Buddies, Homework Club Mentors and Maths Mentors working alongside the younger children supporting and encouraging them. Thank you.

Message from Bucks Fire and Rescue: Please Let Us Through’….

It has been proved recently in a local incident that inconsiderate parking can cause life-threatening delays to emergency service vehicles that are trying to reach a school.

Please can you ensure that you park in designated car parks in the village and avoid the roads around the schools so that we can keep the access to the schools and local houses clear.

Bucks Fire and Rescue have asked us to share the following poster with you all.

Class Parent Reps - thank you to all of the Class Parent Reps for their ongoing support. Minutes of the latest meeting are on the website here

CSG Community Library - following on from pupils suggestions the village library now have a section where the books that they have purchased are on display and available to borrow - thank you to everyone for the suggestions.

Super Science Spotters Challenge - the latest science challenge details are on the website here

Invitation to join a trial of new pollution assessment monitors in our immediate vicinity - our school has been selected to take part in a trial of monitors to assess pollution levels in the local area. If you are interested please click here and read the invitation.

Menu for Spring HT2 - the menu for the next half term has just been added to the website here. This menu includes some of the options that our School Council discussed with Chef Paul - minutes of the meeting are here. Allergen sheets are also available on the School Meals page of the website.

Bikeability training - this will be held during the Easter holidays (14th & 15th April) and there are still a couple of places available for children in year 5 or Year 6 - letter and details here

Pick up arrangements - if at all possible please can you let the office have details of changes to pick up arrangements by 12:30 each day. We can then pop them into the register and can avoid having to take them over to class and disrupt the afternoon activities.

Year 5 - VIking Longships - we are looking for some basic materials. Large sheets of cardboard, approx. 80 cm x 35 cm. These will form the basic structure of the ship. Smaller pieces of cardboard for other parts of the ship would be much appreciated, too.  Used and unwanted pillow cases or shirts, preferably white so that we can paint them. These are intended for use as sails. Thank you for your support!  The Year 5 team

PTA - the PTA have quite a few events planned  - tickets for the next children's disco are being sold via Classlist which seems to be working well. Printed order forms are available on the PTA website page or paper copies can be found by the School Office.

Letters sent home this week - letters have been sent about Dads to School, Music and Arts Evening auditions, termly Super Science Challenge and Parents Evening  - copies of these can all be found on the Letters section of the website here
