Junior Weekly Email (Sent Friday 12th October 2018)

Dear All
A crew from Amersham Fire Station visited Year 5 on Monday afternoon to give them a safety talk - the fire crew explained about what could cause a fire and what the children should do if they found a fire.
Tuesday saw a Year 4 team at Davenies for their Superstars Festival in which the children took part in a range of different activities. Comment from Davenies Head of PE "Many thanks for making Tuesday’s ‘Superstars’ event a memorable occasion. I thought the enthusiasm and excitement of all the Year 4 participants made the afternoon special."
Staff Vacancies - we are looking to employ an evening cleaner at our Junior school site and casual lunch time supervisors for both sites. The evening cleaner hours are 3:30 to 5:30 Monday to Friday. The casual lunchtime cover role means that we would call on you to cover lunch time staff absences or when additional staff may be required. Please contact the School Office for more details if you or someone you know might be interested.
Lost property - we have several jumpers in lost property that have no legible name on them some of which are brand new. Please ensure that items such as jumpers and PE kit are clearly labelled.
Maths meeting - copies of Mrs English's worked examples from Wednesday's meeting have been added to the numeracy corner of the website here
Accident Free in CSG - this has been successfully launched at the Infant School and we are looking to extend it to the Junior School area of the village. We are looking for a parent representative from the Junior School to support the Accident Free team and to help to keep all of our village school children safe on the school run. Please contact the School Office if you are interested in getting involved.
Zebra crossing on Deanway - the zebra crossing has been repainted and is fully operational once again.
Uniform - finally, some positive news on school uniform. We have confirmed a new school uniform supplier - PMG Schoolwear - and we are working towards having uniform available from them after half term. (Tuesday 30th October). Regarding School Trends - we would recommend that you do not place any new orders at this time.
Year 4 - we are still looking for parents to help with the Year 4 Roman Day on Wednesday - please contact the School Office if you are able to help during the morning. We have so far only received £17 in donations towards materials for craft activities on this day. If you are able to make a voluntary contribution please drop your £1 into the office.
Year 5 - Year 5 children will be doing some Mexican cooking on Monday afternoon and we have Mexicolore visiting on Thursday. Thank you to the families who have made a contribution towards the cost of this Mayan themed week's activities. Parent helpers are still needed to help with cooking on Monday afternoon - please contact School Office or Year parent reps if you are able to help.
