Junior - Weekly email - Friday 6th November

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been lovely to welcome your children back into school after the half term break. We hope you had a good holiday with chances to see family, spend time together, rest and have fun. This half term we are looking forward to the exciting learning and activities we have planned for the children. There are lots of lovely things to look forward to during these strange and difficult times.  This includes Roman Day, Egyptian day, Day, Victorian Day and Evacuee Day for specific year groups and lots of festive fun in the build up to the Christmas break.

Mayan day - Year 5 held their annual Mayan Day today where they discovered so much about the Mexican way of life, their food and culture. The day was really successful and enjoyed by all. Huge thanks to the staff team for organising and running this fascinating day to support your children’s learning. These well planned days help your children to have many different experiences which will help them to develop strong memories and deeper understanding of the subjects covered. Thank you to Year 5 parents for their kind donations towards the costs of these activities.

Remembrance Day - Year 2 are finding out about Remembrance Day and the significance of the poppy as a symbol. On 11th November the Year group will visit the war memorial in the village and lay a wreath on behalf of the whole school. This will be done safely and we will remain in our bubble whilst visiting the village centre.

Homework - We are really pleased with how well the children are using Google Classroom for their homework. Please can you encourage your child to look at the feedback they are getting from teachers on Google Classroom after the work has been marked.

Junior School - Thank you to those parking at the playing fields and considerately around the village.

Please avoid using Hillside Close, Lagger Close and Parsonage Road. The parking wardens have been contacted and will be around at the beginning or end of the day.

There will be roadworks on Monday 16th November on Deanway which may cause delays in the area.

Data Collection Sheets - next week we will be sending home Data collection sheets which provide a summary of the information we hold for your child. It is extremely important that the contact information we retain at school is kept up to date. Should any of the data we hold need amending, please email the school office with a subject of Data Collection Sheets followed by your child's full name. If no changes are required there is no need to notify us. Please DO NOT return the sheets to school as has been the expectation in  previous years.

Junior PTA News - the children's christmas card orders should be going home with children next week. Please look out for the cards and any other items that you ordered.
