Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been lovely to welcome the children back this week. It was so good to see everyone dressed up for World Book Day. The costumes were amazing and the children thoroughly enjoyed their day with activities and assemblies to celebrate the world of books.
This week has also been a time for reflection and discussion as the War in Ukraine is leaving people in such desperate need and without a place of safety. The vast majority of children- even our younger children- know a great deal about this conflict as they have seen TV footage and heard lots of people talking about it. They have many questions and there are some misconceptions we are helping them to deal with.
We began the week with an assembly about Peace and class teachers talked with the children about their concerns and questions. Where appropriate staff have used BBC News Round as a great source of information and I would recommend this to you as it is very much geared to informing and reassuring children.
Place 2 be - who promote wellbeing for children in schools - have also produced some resources to support adults when talking about war and conflict. These resources are on our website here.
If you require further support please do get in touch.
Last night the Disasters Fund announced that they will co-ordinating financial support for the Ukrainian people. Please use this link if you would like to make a donation to this fund- https://www.dec.org.uk/appeal/ukraine-humanitarian-appeal.
Accident Free in CSG - There have been complaints about parking in Lagger Close and also people sitting in their cars leaving their engines running. Leaving your engine running whilst waiting for your child is against the law according to section 42 of the Road Traffic Act. Please switch off your engine. This will save fuel and reduce pollution in our local area.
Football update - congratulations to the U11 team who won their league game at Little Chalfont yesterday - the final score was Little Chalfont 2: Chalfont St Giles 3. Well done to everyone involved.
