Junior - Weekly email - Friday 21st June

Dear Parents / Carers
 
It was lovely to see the Year 2 children in school this week. We hope that they enjoyed getting to know our school.
 
A massive thank you to the parents who came in to give presentations at the Year 6 Careers Day this week. They enjoyed a diverse range of fascinating talks.
 
Year 4, 5 and 6 children have all taken place in workshops run by the charity Show Racism the Red Card today - thank you to this charity for supporting our Kindness Day today
 
Ash parents invitation to Friday assembly - we would like to invite Ash parents to join the assembly on Friday 12th July.
 
Meds for pupils - if your child needs to take medication during the day please can you contact the office about this so that we can get the appropriate forms completed and record what meds we have in school for children. Many thanks
 
Junior School Sports Day Afternoon on Friday 28th June: 

 

  • Parents are welcome to attend the afternoon of sports day – events will take place on the school field between 13:15 and 15:15. 
  • Children will have an early lunch (from 12 to 1pm) ready for the afternoon events. 
  • Please note that The Lagger Close gate and the side footpath gate from the car park to the school field will only be unlocked between 13:05 and 13:30.
  • Please do not take any Junior School children home directly from the Sports Day Afternoon session but wait until they have been dismissed from class at the normal end of day at 15:30.
  • School gates will be unlocked at normal time of 15:25.
  • Any parents that need to leave the school site between 13:30 and 15:25 will have to leave via the main school entrance by the office.
  • There will be a designated spectator zone along the footpath, so feel free to bring along a camping chair or blanket.
  • Please note that younger siblings on the school site must be supervised at all times – please do not let them run around the site and play on any of the school equipment

 

Please note that there will be no PTA Cafe on site this afternoon and a reminder that dogs are not allowed on the school premises
 
Sports Week - the weather is forecast to be sunny this week so please apply sun cream to children before school and make sure they have sun hats and water bottles in school.

  • Lego Club at lunchtime today - Lego Club with Mrs Rooney in Acer Class is for children who have signed up and runs from from 12:20pm to 12:50pm (children to have lunch after this club)
  • Year 4 & Year 5 Netball Club with Mr Ballard on the Upper Playground - please remember sports kit & trainers - now for Years 4 and 5 from 3:30pm to 4:45pm (please can girls change in their classrooms at the end of the day) - pick up from Top Playground
  • Cookery Club with Smart Raspberry in the Dining Hall from 3:30pm to 4:30pm

  • Reading Club at lunchtime today with Mrs Franklin in the library - all children are welcome to drop in from 12:50pm to 1:15pm (children to have lunch before going to the library)
  • Year 5 & 6 children - additional swimming lessons for invited children
  • Music lessons - Drum lessons with Teach Me Drums  - in the Music Room during the morning
  • Music lessons - Piano lessons with Ms Cicvarova, BMT - in the Music Room during the afternoon

  • Art Club at lunchtime today - Art Club with Mrs Starrs in the Art Room is for Year 5 & 6 children who have signed up and is from 12:45pm to 1:15pm (children to have lunch before going to this club) 
  • Homework club is on today in the IT Suite for invited pupils - from 3:30pm to 4:30pm - pick up from the Dining Hall at 4:30pm
  • Year 5 / 6 Athletics / Cricket / Softball Club with Mr Ballard - with Mr Ballard on the Main Hall / Field - please remember sports kit & trainers - for Years 5 and 6 from 3:30pm to 4:45pm - children can change in the Main hall and pick up from Main Hall (or Field)
  • Year 4 Flag Football Club after school today with Mr Holmes on the Top Field / Main Hall - please remember that your child will need to have P.E kit, a gum shield and trainers for this club - from 3:45 to 4:45pm - pick up from the back of the Main Hall
 
Friday 28th June 
  • Reading in your child's class - parents are welcome to pop into class from 8:45am until 8:55am (gates will be open from 8:40am on Fridays)

Tuesday 2nd July - County Transition Day / Transfer Day - Year 6 children will attend their new secondary school on this day.  No Year 6 children to be in school today

Tuesday 2nd July - Open Evening for parents of current children and children joining us in September 2024 - 6pm to 7:30pm

Tuesday 2nd July - Induction meeting for parents of new Year 3 children - in the Dining Hall starting at 7pm

Friday 5th July - Non Uniform day today as thanks for donating items for the PTA Tombola Stall - the PTA will be sending home pots to be filled for their tombola stall at the PTA Summer BBQ event and can pots be brought back into school today Friday 5th

Friday 5th July - PTA pre-loved uniform sale in the Dining Hall 3:30pm to 4pm
 
Friday 5th July - Oak parents invited for Friday assembly - this assembly starts at 1:20pm and will be about 20 minutes - entrance is via Parsonage Road main gate only
 
Monday 8th July - Guitar assembly in school with Mr Atkinson (for children only)
 
Tuesday 9th July - Year 3 Songs of Praise service at village church (11:30 to 12 service – family and friends are invited to attend)
 
Tuesday 9th July - Year 6 Dress Rehearsal production -  from 1:45pm-3pm - This will be for the Junior School children and for up to 2 adults, per Year 6 child, who cannot make the evening performance on the 10th July. Adults should arrive at the main entrance on Parsonage Road at 1:30. This is the only entrance that will be open at this time.
 
Wednesday 10th July - Year 6 Production - Evening performance from 6pm-7:30pm. Two tickets will be given to children nearer to the time. Please stick to only two people attending the performance as we are limited with space. There will be a waiting list for additional tickets – details of this will be shared nearer to the time.

Thursday 11th July - Year 6 Bouncy Day - More details to follow on what the day will consist of and what the children should wear

Tuesday 23rd July - Year 6 Leavers Assembly morning - Year 6 parents/carers are warmly invited to attend
  • 9:30-10:30 Certificate assembly where we celebrate the achievements of Year 6. These will include a variety of awards including the citizenship awards, sports week awards, trip awards for example. Year 5 children will also attend this assembly.
  • 10:30-11:00 Tea and coffee break for parents
  • 11:00-12:20 Leavers assembly where we will be joined by the rest of the school
  • 12:30 Parents leave the school site.
