Junior - Weekly email - Friday 21st January

Dear All

Volunteers in school - we are starting to have volunteer helpers in school again from next week - Monday 24th January. We will continue to review this over the next few weeks, depending on guidelines and case numbers.

School run clubs - these will not be starting just yet. If case numbers remain low we hope to have school run clubs starting the week of Monday 7th February.

Eco Warriors News - Thank you to the Eco warriors for litter picking with me on Tuesday. We gathered quite a bit of litter including dropped pencils, sweet wrappers, orange peel, tissues and much more. Well done Eco Warriors!
Please could everyone try to pick up the litter that they drop or pick up the litter they see being dropped by others? There are many reasons why we should be picking it up. Maybe your Eco Warriors can tell you the reasons we need to?  It would be great if the next time we litter pick, we see a difference!

Next time I meet the Eco Warriors, we will be discussing how we encourage birds to our site and perhaps making some bird feeders or bird houses. Please look out for the RSPB bird watch activity in this week’s newsletter-you can all take part!  I’ll be in touch with another Eco Warrior date soon.

Many thanks, Mrs Coleman

The Big Garden Birdwatch 2022 - Our next Eco campaign focuses on biodiversity and how we can encourage wildlife to our school grounds and our local area. As part of this campaign, we will be taking part in the RSPB’s Big Garden Bird Watch at the end of January. We would love as many children to get involved as possible. Here is how you can join in the fun! https://youtu.be/ghIx27M_I1g

Instructions

1. Pick a time to spend an hour bird watching, from your window or in the garden. This can be anytime on the 28th or 30th January, morning or night!
2. Count the birds that you see, ignoring any that are in flight. Use the bird ID sheet here to help you. To avoid double counting, just record the highest number of the bird species that you see at one time, not a running total.
3. Go to the website rspb.org.uk/Birdwatch and record your results there.

Have fun bird watching! Mrs Coleman.

Residential visits - coloured paper consent forms have now been sent home with children

Accident Free in CSG - In addition to the many builders vans there are still many people parking on Parsonage Road and completely blocking pavements. This is not very safe for your children, as they are forced to walk on the road.  It is also not very thoughtful towards residents.  Please avoid driving and parking on this road.

Astra School Led teacher Training - Chalfont St Giles Village School is proud to be in partnership with the Astra School Centred Initial Teacher Training provider (SCITT), an innovative, Ofsted Outstanding and non-profit organisation which provides outstanding training opportunities for new entrants into the teaching profession. Further details here on our website
