Junior - Weekly email - Friday 1st July

Dear Parents / Carers
 
We have had a busy week with lots of sporting events - colourful costumes for the Sponsored Walk4Books, lots of energy for the Mini Marathon and huge amounts of enthusiasm at Sports Day today. Thank you to everyone that has supported these events this week - your help is much appreciated. Special mention to the Sports Leaders from the Community College.

Active Afternoon - we had planned to reschedule the active afternoon activities for next Monday but we have decided to cancel this event. Monday 4th July will now be a normal school day for everyone.
 
Head lice - we are aware of cases of head lice in school. Please remember to check your child's hair regularly
 
Mrs Peal leaving collection - we shall be holding some events this term to mark Mrs Peal's time as our head teacher before she leaves at the end of this term. If any parents would like to contribute towards a gift or to send in a card or a message please can these be dropped into the school office by Monday 4th July. Please can any envelopes be marked Mrs Peal Leaving
 
Bucks Transfer Day is on Tuesday 5th July - arrangements for the day are as follows:

 

  • Our current Year 6 children will be visiting their new secondary schools on that day. Any Year 6 children who do not have a transfer day to attend should not be in school on Tuesday 5th July. This will be recorded as an authorised absence day for all Year 6 children. Any school lunches ordered will be cancelled by the office
  • Our new Year 3 joiners (current Year 2 children) will be visiting us for the day - all of these group to bring in a water bottle, a morning fruit snack and a packed lunch please - more details here 
  • Our current Year 3 to Year 5 children will spend the day in their next year group classes (all Year 3 to Year 5 children are expected to be in school on Tuesday 5th).

 

Drop off arrangement on Tuesday 5th July
  • All gates open at 8:45am
  • New Year 3s - to be in the lower playground at 8:45 where they will be met by staff
  • New Year 4s to New Year 6s - to go to your current class for registration

 

Pick up arrangements on Tuesday 5th July
  • End of school day is 3:30pm and all gates will be open from 3:25pm
  • New Year 3s will be brought out next to the wet weather shelter on the lower playground .
  • New Year 4s will be brought out to the lower playground.
  • New Year 5s will be brought out to the upper playground
  • New Year 6s will be brought out to the field.

 

Open Evening for current pupils and new Year 3 joiners is on Tuesday 5th July from 6pm to 8pm - we would like to invite you to our School Open Evening. This is an informal occasion where your child can show you their current classroom and the work they have done through the year. You can also visit your child's new classroom and see where they will be in September. Staff will be available in their classrooms. Please feel free to pop in at a time that suits you. This is not a formal parents evening, but a chance to share and celebrate all that your child has achieved over the past year.
 
PMG Uniform suppliers will be in the Main Hall from 6pm to 7pm to talk to parents (please note that they will not be selling uniform this evening)
 
All gates will be open during the Open Evening.
 
Transition meeting for new Year 3 parents on Tuesday 5th
  • This will take place in the Dining Hall starting at 7pm and is for our new Year 3 parents

 

Hobbies Day on Friday 8th July 
  • Children exhibiting will be able to come into school from 8am to start setting up and to allow parents who need to transport items into school time to do so - the main gate will be open from 8am.
  • Children who are not exhibiting should arrive at school at the normal time. All children must be in class for normal registration at 8:55am.
  • The exhibition will be open from 9am to 11am and parents are invited to come up to school to see the displays and stands
  • Visitors please sign in at the office - only the main Parsonage Road gate will be open after 9am.
  • Children will have been told which area they are to set up their display in and there will also be lists up in school on Friday morning to check

  • Year 3 have outdoor learning workshops during the morning - please ensure children have a coat and old trainers/boots to change into just in case the weather is bad or sun hats if sunny..

  • School run lunchtime club - Business Club with Mrs Starrs in Acacia Class - for Year 6 children
  • Music lessons - Guitar lessons with Mr Norton, BMT - afternoon in the Music Room
  • External club - Chess club in the Art Room from 3:30pm to 4:30pm - pick up from outside the Art Room - details

  • No Year 4 PE today - no PE day today - children to come in normal school uniform please
  • Music lessons - Strings lessons with Mrs Priestley, BMT - morning in the Music Room
  • School run lunchtime club - Reading Club with Miss Warner in the library - all welcome 
  • Music lessons - Woodwind / Piano lessons with Mrs Wayman, BMT - afternoon in the Music Room
  • External club - Cookery club in the Dining Hall from 3:30pm to 4:30pm - details 
  • School run after school club - Cricket Club with Mr Ballard on top playground / school field from 3:30pm to 4:30pm
  • Open Evening for current pupils and those starting at the Junior School in September 2022 - 6pm to 8pm.

  • Music lessons - Piano lessons with Mrs Downie - afternoon in the Music Room
  • Rocky Road for invited Year 4 children with Mrs Rock in the ATA Room from 3:30pm to 4:30pm - pick up from outside the ATA room

 

Thursday 7th July

  • Year 3 Athletics PE Festival - details - children to come to school in school PE Kit and to bring a packed lunch to eat in school before they go to the festival
  • Music lessons - Woodwind lessons with Mrs Wayman, BMT today - morning in the Music Room 
  • Music lessons - Cello lessons with Mrs Bagnell, BMT - afternoon in the Music Room
  • Homework Club in the IT Suite - invitation only - from 3:30pm to 4:35pm - pick up from Dining Hall
  • External club - PFO club on the School Field / Main Hall from 3:45pm to 4:45pm - pick up from outside Main Hall - details

 

Friday 8th July

  • Hobbies Day - details 
  • Year 6 PE Day - children to come to school in school PE Kit
  • Dress Down Friday - this has come from the school council as a suggestion for the whole school. Children can come to school in their own clothes today - this is not a charity fundraising day - please ensure that children are dressed appropriately for a day at school - so warm and comfortable and sensible footwear please.
  • School run lunchtime club - Art Club with Mrs Starrs in the Art Room - for Year 5 & 6 children 
  • Music lessons - Drum lessons with MD Drumlab - afternoon in the IT Music Room
  • External club - Street Dance club with Tuffney Dance in the Main Hall - from 3:30pm to 4:15pm - details
  • PTA Summer Fun Day at school from 4:30pm to 7pm - full details from PTA on Classlist. Our new Year 3s are invited to join us for this event. All gates will be open until 5pm. From 5pm only the side gate from the staff car park on Parsonage road will be open. The Lagger Close gate will be opened at the end of the evening for people leaving. Please do not park on Parsonage Road. 
 
Future Dates
 
Monday 11th July - Walk to School Week themes: 
  • Monday - Walking to Notice Nature - how many different signs of the summer can you see on your walk into school? Class teachers will follow this discussion up in class.
  • Tuesday - Walking to Keep Fit - wear trainers today and walk safely and swiftly. How long does it take for you to get out of breath?
  • Wednesday - Walking to Create Time to Talk - talk together about which you'd rather be - a bee or a butterfly? A flower or a tree? Class teachers will follow this up in class.
  • Thursday - Walking to Keep our Roads Safe - practise the Green Cross Code on your walk to school. Class teachers will talk about the Green Cross Code in class.
  • Friday - Walking to Reduce Pollution - looking after our planet. Wear your own clothes in all the colours of the rainbow to remind us what a beautiful world we live in.
 
Monday 11th July - Year 6 dress rehearsal show for rest of school during the afternoon - further details will be available soon
 
Tuesday 12th July - Year 4 to attend Songs of Praise service at Parish Church -service starts at 11:30am - family and friends are welcome to attend this service 
 
Tuesday 12th July - Oak class to visit the village during the morning as part of their Village Topic work

Wednesday 13th July - Ash class to visit the village during the morning as part of their Village Topic work
