Junior - Weekly Email

Dear all

We hope that the Year 6 children have enjoyed their week in France and we would like to thank the staff who have been with them this week. We expect them to return to the village at about 4.25pm today - traffic conditions permitting. Mrs Crosbie will be ensuring that pupil meds that were sent on the trip will be in children's bags.

We had a fascinating session with author Tony de Saulles talking about his Bee Boy book on Monday afternoon. On Tuesday Mrs Peal gave a presentation on the transition to secondary school which we hope the year 5 parents found useful. Year 3 had a lovely afternoon exploring the wildlife in our pond on Wednesday and making worm farms. Waiting to see how they develop over the next few weeks! The Year 5 Maths in Motion team put a lot of energy into their team car on Wednesday but sadly they didn't win the race but they did incredibly well to make it to the World Final. Thank you to Mrs Hoare (one of our governors) and Miss Boultewood (one of our volunteer helpers) for overseeing the team during the day. Palm class were the first winners of the reading chair this week for their regular reading recording.

The allotment beds are flourishing at the moment. Thank you to all of our gardener helpers. Especial thanks to Mrs Purser for all of her extra help with the beds and tubs around site.

Communication - please can you give your childs' name and class when letting us know about absences, appointments during the day or changes to pick up arrangements. It is also really helpful if daily pick up changes can be emailed in before 12 noon so that they can go into afternoon registers. It is also helpful if we could know about appointments with as much notice as possible.  Thank you

Child Safety and Stranger Danger - As we approach the summer holidays and as the weather (hopefully) stays warm and our children are out and about more please do remind them of the importance of the stranger danger message and to be vigilant whilst out playing, to keep themselves and their friends safe. Please speak to your children about how to keep safe when out and about and remind them of the importance of discussing incidents that may make them feel uncomfortable.
