Dear All

We hope that everyone had a lovely half term and is fully refreshed for the remainder of the school year. Year 3 visited our local church on Tuesday for the monthly Songs of Praise service and it was lovely to be joined there by friends and family of the children. On Thursday children spent the day working on a range of Growth Mindset activities in groups that were made up of children from all different year groups - we hope that they enjoyed the activities that were all linked to our different Gem Powers. Thank you to Mrs Burge for organising this day. A team of Year 4, 5 and 6 children took part in an athletics festival at the Marlow Athletics track last night and everyone ran really well. Many thanks to all of the parents who supported this event, especially Mr Gibson. It was lovely to see so many mums and other family members in school this afternoon to help children make cards and to visit the PTA Cafe. Thank you to all of the PTA helpers who have worked so hard organising vouchers and gifts for Dads as well as running a very busy cafe.

Pupil safety - An incident has taken place in which secondary pupils were targeted after leaving school by 2 people on a moped.   Property was taken and 1 student was knocked down.  The incident appears to have started in a park area where pupils had left property unattended. The police are actively working on this case. We thought we should bring this to your attention so that you are aware and can talk to your children about keeping safe. In our run up to the summer holidays we will also have assembly time to share a strong safety message.

Measles notice - Public Health England have confirmed 440 cases of measles across England so far this year with 250 reported across London and the South East. Please make sure your child has received 2 doses of the MMR vaccine especially if you are travelling abroad this summer. Please contact either your GP Surgery or call the Bucks Immunisation Team on 01296 566063 to arrange a catch up appointment.

GX Fun Run - School Aid, a local charity based in Hedgerley, which recycles books and educational materials and sends to schools in Africa, develops school and community libraries and runs reading clubs to develop the love of reading amongst African school children, is holding it’s 5th annual fundraising Fun Run on Sunday, 1st July 2018 at 10.30 am.
