Junior - Weekly Email

Dear all


Thank you to CSG Village Library for welcoming our Year 3 and Year 6 children on Monday morning. All children had informal class photos taken on Monday morning. Proofs will be available to view and order online after half term. Year 4 had a lovely afternoon pond dipping yesterday. They had worked really hard on their assembly and were really pleased that so many parents came to see their assembly on Wednesday. Year 5 have had a good week despite all being a little tired from their residential last week - hopefully all of the lost property has found its way home. Year 6 have had another busy week making and selling items for Mini Enterprise week. We were lucky that the weather for our sponsored walk this afternoon - please visit our Sponsor Page for further details of our fundraising this year and to donate your sponsor money. Thank you to parent helpers who have been in to help with both Mini Enterprise and Sponsored Walk this week.


Gardens - a huge thank you to all of the parents who have been busy helping in the gardens this half term. The variety of approaches is fabulous. We will water the beds and any seedlings in the greenhouse area over half term.


Science - Super Summer Half Term Science Spotters challenge has been launched by Mr Holmes - details here


Literary festival winners - members of the Chalfont St Giles Literary Festival committee joined our assembly last Friday to announce winners for each year group. Congratulations to the following: Year 3 - Oscar, Lola, Grace and Megan. Year 4 - Siena, Amy, Molly and Dylan. Year 5 - Laila, Ashleigh and Tilly. Year 6 - Aoife, Josh and Willow.


GDPR - as  you may know new Data Protection regulations have now come into force. Our Privacy Notice is now available on the Key Information menu of the school website. 


Cookery club - there are spaces available for this club after half term.


Wrap Around Care - we have been working with Little Walkers and are delighted to be able to offer wrap around care on site at the Infant School for pupils from both Infants and Junior schools from September. 

  • Breakfast Club will be from 07.30 until school drop off.

  • After School Club will be 15.00 to 18:00

  • Dinner served at 17.00


  • Breakfast Club £5.00/£4.00 (siblings rate)

  • After School Fees £5.50 per hour or £15.00 for the Full Session

  • All fees include meals and drop off or pick up from the relevant school.

PTA News -  Thank you for all the Father’s Day shopping voucher orders, vouchers will be handed out to children before the afternoon starts to minimise them being lost or forgotten, please be aware that there will be NO non pre-order gifts available on the day but the cafe will be open selling drinks and home baking!   • Growth Mindset Day - whole school activity within normal school day - no readers or gardening helpers in today please

  • Spanish Club with El Club Espanol in Art Room - 12:50 to 13:20 (children in this club to go for first sitting of lunch)

  • Guitar lessons with Mr Norton in the IT Meeting Room - 13:20 to 15:10 

  • Pilates Club with Mrs Stephenson in the Main Hall - club finishes at 16:30

  • Cookery club - after school club in the Dining Hall run by Smart Raspberry - club finishes at 16:30

  • Homework Club in the IT Suite - Teacher Led (for Invited pupils only) - club finishes at 16:30 

  • Athletics Meeting at Marlow - invited team 16:00 to 17:00

  • Second hand uniform sale - 8.45am-9.15am . Plenty of summer dresses available at a special price of £1 as well as limited quantities of other uniform items. 

  • Woodwind lesson with Mrs Wayman in the IT Meeting Room - 12:40 to 13:20

  • Mums to School Day - parents welcome between 13:30 and 15:00

  • Street Dance Club with Tuffney Dance in Main Hall - club finishes at 16:15

Our new School App is a really handy way to check our school calendar and for looking at our latest news on your smart phone. The weekly emails from both sites are added to the news section for reference. Go to your app store and search for TheSchoolApp. Once downloaded search for and select Chalfont St Giles Village School. You can also sign up for alerts from different groups. We shall be using this feature more during the next half term.
