Junior - Weekly Email

Dear all

We have had another busy week with PE Festivals for Year 5 and Year 3 this week plus a whole school Basketball day and a trip to the village for Year 3. Year 6 Sports Leaders have given their presentation and have been busy signing up Year 3 and Year 4 children for their lunchtime clubs and there has been a lot of activity in the Outdoor Learning Area vegetable beds (see blog for updates).

EcoWarriors - Become an Eco Warrior-parent opportunity! - We are looking for an enthusiastic parent or two who would like to help maintain the high Eco status that our school has alongside Mrs Coleman and the Eco Warriors! If you have a DBS and can spare an hour once a term to help with our Eco campaigning please do get in touch. It really is a lovely way to involve yourself with the school and spend time with the children. Activities are always fun, interesting, often creative and very worthwhile such as creating bird treats, bird boxes, picking litter, making posters, carrying out surveys and questionnaires with the children etc.  For more information please contact the school office, speak to Mrs Coleman or visit the Eco Warrior pages on the school website to see what the Eco Warriors get up to!

Music lessons - Following the Cello demo to Years 3 and 4 last week I am offering a free taster session, this coming Tuesday, 1st May in the afternoon, for any children thinking seriously of learning the cello, but who would like a try before committing to lessons. I currently have one space available for a new pupil this term, and then from September I will have spaces for a few more. I am happy to set up a new beginners group in September if there is enough demand. For your information here is the current cost of cello lessons per term (on average 11 lessons):  Music lesson costings are on the Music page of our website here. If your child would like a taster with a view to starting lessons please email the School Office. Equally if your child would like to start lessons either this term or from September but does not require a taster please let me know so I have an idea of numbers, individual or group. Thank you, Helen Tullie.

Clubs - please note that school run after school clubs start next week (from Monday 30th April). There are places available at most of the clubs still - please contact providers directly for external clubs or contact the school office for school run clubs. Details of the clubs and contact details are on the website here

Reports - End of year reports will be sent home on Monday 16th July. We are aware that some families require two copies of reports to be sent home. If parents are at separate addresses and need to have two copies of your child's report please can you let the school office know. Many thanks.

Year 4 - reminder that recorder lessons will be held on Thursdays this term. we do have school recorders but your child is very welcome to bring in their own recorder if they wish to.

Year 5 - Termly Topic Pack will be available on the Year 5 Class Page here by the end of Monday.

Year 6 - The children have been given a Citizenship challenge card which they will be bringing home today. Inside, there are various challenges for them to complete which relate to their community, well-being or the wider world. We would really appreciate any support you could give your child to complete the challenges. Many of them will also be able to be completed in school. Awards will be given during the end of year awards assembly for bronze, silver and gold for completing 25%, 50% or 75% of the challenges respectively.  Please ask if there are any questions. Mrs Franklin and Miss Murray.

Year 6 - Copies of the France Trip and SATS assessment presentations from last night's meeting will be available on the Year 6 Class page of the website here. If you would like a copy of the SRE presentation please contact the School Office.
