Junior - Weekly Email

Dear All

At the end of another busy week in school it has been lovely to see the sun shining on the dressed trees around site. Attached are thank you letter from the PTA, plus some information from the Village Show committee and a flyer for a basketball club being run at CCC by our local Schools Sports Partnership team

Accident-Free in CSG - Parking permits - the parking permit scheme, to enable parents to park in Blizzard Yard car park at drop off and pick up times, has been extended to the Junior School and permits have been sent home with children this week (one per family). Please let the office know if you did not receive a yellow Parking Permit and would like one. We request that parents do not park in any of the streets near the school and avoid blocking pavements at all times, wherever you may be parked, so that small children and people with buggies are safely able to use the pavements.

School run clubs - these are starting next week. Please remember that you do need to register your child each term so that we have an accurate register of children attending these clubs.

Future Dates:

Pick up arrangements - as of Monday 29th January our new after school pick up arrangements will come into place.
  • Children who are not collected by a certain time will be brought over to the Dining Hall/ Reception area to wait. Childminders are welcome to collect children from here if it is easier and safer to walk up Parsonage Road.
  • All Year 3 and Year 4 children will need to be picked up from their classroom.
  • We are advising parents that they are able to nominate an other adult to collect children from the classroom and to walk them to meet childminder offsite but that Junior School staff are not available for this role.
  • If permission is given for a Year 5 or 6 child to leave the classroom this will apply every day and these children can meet parent/childminder on playground or make their way offsite. We do not need details of nominated adults if a child has been given consent to leave the classroom
  • Children who are not collected by a certain time will be brought over to the Dining Hall/ Reception area to wait until collected.
  • These changes have been made for the reasons given in the rationale statements in the original email to parents - to improve pupil safety and increase staff-parent contact at the end of the day. There has been no specific incident that has triggered this change. When the beginning of day arrangements were changed in November we did mention that we were also looking at options for the end of day arrangements, but we did not wish to make all of the changes at the same time.
