Junior - Weekly Email

Dear All

Christmas Fair - a huge thank you to the PTA for a fantastic Christmas Fair last Friday. We will let you know the final total that was made from this event shortly. We have a few items of lost property left after the fair - an adult's hat, some children's tombola prizes and a bag of green carrier bag containing an assortment of items and a phone charger. If any of these items belong to you please contact the School Office. Thank you

Jack and the Beanstalk - we hope that the children all enjoyed the visit by M&M Productions yesterday. Thank you to all of you who made a voluntary donation towards the costs of this live theatre performance. Payments may still be made via ParentPay or by sending in £3.50 in a named envelope to the School Office (please also write M&M or Pantomime on the envelope).

Pencil cases - please can you ensure that your child has the following basics in their pencil case - HB pencils, pencil sharpener (with container), glue stick, eraser, whiteboard pen, handwriting pens (if have pen licence) and a ruler. This applies to all children across the school from January. Please name items whenever possible. The school stationery shop now has a stock of pre-filled pencil cases for sale. Small cases for £3.50 contain 15cm ruler, eraser, pencil sharpener, handwriting pens (1 blue, 1 black), HB pencil x2, whiteboard pen and glue stick. Large pencil case for £5.00 contains a 30cm ruler, eraser, pencil sharpener, handwriting pens (1 blue, 1 black), HB pencil x2, whiteboard pen, glue stick, protractor and a pack of 12 colouring pencils.

Readers in class - many thanks to all of you who have been listening to children read in class this term. As there are lots of different things happening over next few weeks we shall not require readers to help in school until next term.

Sickness and diarrhoea - please can we remind you that if your child is sick or has diarrhoea they should not return to school until 48 hours after the last episode.

Giving Machine - we would like to say a big ‘Thank You’ to everyone who is using TheGivingMachine to shop online. Together, we have raised £280 just by shopping via TheGivingMachine . It didn’t cost anyone a penny! If you would like to get involved, please visit Chalfont St Giles Junior School on TheGivingMachine : https://www.thegivingmachine.co.uk/causes/chalfont-st-giles-junior-school or download their Android App.

Snow - I would like to remind parents of our procedures for closure in the event of snow.  Naturally, we make every effort to keep the school open, although sometimes the condition of the site and the availability of staff make it impossible to operate safely. Communication takes place via the school website and class parents.  Please do not telephone the school; this would block telephone lines and we are likely to be working with a skeleton staff first thing in the morning.

There are three status categories:

RED  -  the school is closed

GREEN  -  school is open and operating entirely normally

AMBER  -  there will be some amendments to normal arrangements;  i.e. a later start to allow staff and parents time to travel.  Start time will be posted on the school website and communicated to class parents.

Year 3 - Egyptian Nativity DVD orders - Mr Jackson has extended the deadline for dropping off DVD orders. We currently have received orders for 15 DVDs which will not cover Mr Jackson's costs. If you do wish to order a DVD please send £7.50 in a named envelope by the end of Monday so that we can decide if Mr Jackson will be able to make a DVD of the show. {Orders may be placed on Tuesday up to the end of the performance - added 11/12/2017]

Year 6 - please note that as of next week any items dropped off at the School Office for year 6 children will remain in the office until the are collected by that child. Office staff will not be taking items over to year 6 classrooms during the school day.
